Problems with Service at South Bay Mini (sorry, long rant)
I guess let me start out with how this whole situation came about.... I took my 05 Cooper S for it's first service (10k mis.) to South Bay Mini on Tues. last week (Jan. 9) after reading some horror stories from other So. Cal. Mini dealers closer to me. I have taken the day off to have this done and expected to be at the dealer for at least half the day... I was there all day and was later told that they had to keep my car there since they were having problems with uploading the new software to my car's computer. I kind of understand since my car was delivered on Sept. 04 as an 05 model. anyway, I was put in a rental car and sent on my way home... which needless to say is 50 mis. away. I am given a call the next day by my service advisor and was told that they have to send out my DME (computer) to mini so that they can see what the problem is and that they will ship it back. I asked then why they don't just replace it since they did verify that they had the part in stock. my serv. advisor said that mini wanted to check out the part.... anyway, so I go along with this and now it's sat., 5 days later, and they say that they don't have the part which was shipped by mini and that it might not be til Monday that I get my car back. am i completely out of line here to think that maybe something happenned to my car and they're stalling to get it back to me? my gut feeling is that I won't see my car until tuesday which is a full week from when I dropped it off.... just bummed and now am thinking whether it was wise on my part to take it there for a simple service in the 1st place. Can anyone tell me if their service experience at south bay has been a good one? sorry for the long rant.... I just want my car back.......
YUP ... when the dealer fitted the Works Kit on my MCS they couldn't get the JCW remap to load and had the send the DME to NJ.
