-I just had a thought.. How about we do an MTH party, an excuse to improve the breed and hang out and talk shop. I'm thinking hotdogs and beer to add some life. I will work on a group buy price, if MTH will do it, currently its $215 for a standard file and $400 for the tuner file. It would have to be a 2 event deal, 1 day to upload all the cars, wait a week for them to come back, and another "install" day. I will discount the labor even if I can't discount the software. Lets get some interest here and then we'll pick a date.

We can get together for a group upload on Saturday, May 12th. If this day does not work for you, don't worry, you will be able to come back for it within a few days. Seems like there has been a small amount of interest, Perhaps we could plan this as a Charlotte thing, and I will bring the necessary gadgets with me. I'm still up in the air about pricing, but decided not to charge any labor, I won't know the final price until I know how many want it. I've only had my Mini for 5 mths now - what is a MTH party?

 

MTH is a German performance tuner, found here and sold in the US through DMH Motorsports . I am an authorized installer for DMH, basically, I would hook my computer to your car, save a file, send it to Germany, they write a new ECU map file for you and send it back to me. I then install it for you through your OBD2 port. I hope that explains the idea.

Dan - a question - is the tuning file based in any way on how your current ECU firmware has "adapted" to existing mods? For example - should I run the car for a while with pulley, intake, exhaust, etc. before having the MTH file generated and installed - or does it matter? Cause I'm thinking of having pulley, one-ball and MTH done all at the same time...

 

no, it does require the ecu to adapt first.

People jump on this! It's almost 27bhp for $200! Am I right? That's what the MTH website list as the gain....

Hello Dan, I'm interested. My car has X mods. How do I determin if i need the plane mod or the extra special one? thanks man.

 

Since you track the car, I would recommend the tuner file. this will increase your rev limiter to 7200 rpm, raise the top speed limiter, give you more aggressive fuel and timing maps and optimize the dsc for aggressive driving.
