R50/53 Classic Mini Buying
Greetings all!
Does anyone know the best way to purchase a Classic Mini Cooper? Does anyone have any recommendations on finding a reputable source? I live in the Cleveland, Ohio area and really want to get one to go with my 2002 Mini Cooper.
Thanks

The old Minis are great. Just remember to take along your toolbox when you pick it up. The adage that they don't build'em like they used to is true....they build'em better today. I admire those folks that can keep 40-50 year old cars on the road. The old MINI ( I owned two) kept me mechanically proficient during their stays with me. Now, I'm enjoy'n the creatures comforts BMW put in the new MINI.

I just did the same thing wanted a classic to go with my 2002 BRG cooper. Barnhill minis was where I got mine and I could not be happier. Peter is fantastic he took the time to explain everything about the car to me. He answered all my questions with sincere interest and his responce time on email is almost quicker then you can type them.
When I was down in Orlando on a business trip I stopped by and saw Pete and the minis he had. I test drove the one I was interested in, he kept telling me during the drive to be more aggressive give it some gas, make sure I liked it. He had his mechanic there to answer my questions, put the car up on a rack to look under it. He is totaly honest and will tell you every thing that is right and wrong about the car. He took over two hours to show me the car let me take as many pictures as I wanted, it was a great experience.
I bought a mint 61 Austin Seven that is in unbelievable shape. Pete had it titled in florida it was an easy transfer to Ohio (I am in Columbus) don't even think about a UK title and try to get that transfered here unless you want to spend a lot of time at the BMV. We had it shipped up here on a motor carrier, no problems, I have been driving it for a couple of weeks and can't quit smilling.
I would not buy one from anyone else, Pete is a great business man and I personally would hire him in a heart beat if I could drag him from his current vocation. Go to Minimania.com and go on their message board, Pete is Pmustang, you will find nothing but good things said about him. Bottom line is you can trust Pete he will give you a good honest deal, I can't say enough good things about the mini I got from him or Pete as a person to deal with.

Get the LATEST model Mini you can.
I just sold my previous Classic Mini.
It was a "1991-spec" (last of the carbureted 1275's), 1973 Cooper.
If you'd like clarification on the "1991-spec", please e-mail.
It sold for $7350.
This car was a turn-key, wash it and gas-it deal.
NOT a tinker toy like many old worn out Minis.
I have another on the way.
It's a "1994-spec", fuel injected Classic 1970 Mini in Black.
It should be here in a couple of weeks.
Beautiful car.
I'm thinking it'll be around $7900.
Again, turn key, NOT a worn out old Mini that you'll have to work on all the time.
ANY questions? Please don't hesitate to e-mail.
I am VERY good about responding.
Thanks and best of luck in your pursuit!
I am located in St. Louis, MO
