Any discounts for NAM members when ordering tire/wheel packages?
Thanks

I'm interested in that answer also.

And while we're at it, is there a "sticky" or non-sticky thread anywhere in the board that lists the various discount codes NAMers can use on vendor websites for standing discounts ??

Thanks !

Nyah, there was bad math in that thread. If you buy at Costco, you have to pay the taxman. At 6% on a $600 purchase, that's roughly another $36, making the "savings" only about $24, onnly IF you get 'em mounted for $18/tire. Shopping around, you can get tires mounted (and mounted well) for less than that. Add in the $25-40 yearly membership (for what? Their prices are no better than anyone elses on most items, so you have to apply that whole membership cost to just the tire purchase) and it's about a wash.

"Throw us a bone", you say? They do! Is information now "free of cost"? Tire Rack's site is about the most comprehensive, user-friendly tire information place on the planet. Maintaining all that information is not free. It's worth it to me to do business with Tire Rack, even if it costs me another few bucks, because I get my money's worth. They support this site, and they support my craving for information on the cars I own and the tires I buy - even if I don't buy from them

Paradoxically, it's ALSO worth it to do business with Costco - healthy competition is not a bad thing - and they DO have lifetime balancing and some good road hazard stuff - AND (unless you're in South Bend) you can drive to Costco and they support your purchase in person.

I buy from both, but prefer TireRack.

FWIW, I'll still check out your prices and inventory when I'm ready to replace my OEM run-flats (dam [sic] things aren't going to last 15,000 miles). Feel better ??

I'm leaning toward Falken Ziex Ze 512's after reading a lengthy thread on the board about the best all season tires for the MINI.

If thats what you got from that thread, thats ok with me.

It was meant to explain that a discount from Tirerack if often asked for, and we have firm pricing due to being involved with so many forums. Many questions can be hadled by seaching 1st - that was my singular point.

We've taken this enough off topic

Tire Racks prices are amazingly competitive and their customer service is top notch.

Doesn't make business sense for them to offer a discount for membership to a web forum that costs nothing to join. What you should ask yourself is. . .

Why would they charge non-members more? They get more business by having low, transparent prices, rather than making their customers search to find the correct coupon. . .

Well, Alex, my singular point was this: If you're going to link a thread to answer a question about your company, you might find one that supports your company and not one that primarily bad-mouths it.

I found that to be rather amusing and meant it that way. No offense.

Yes, your company's rep is solid and I bought from you often when I was stationed overseas, as far back as the early 1990s, if I recall.

Thanks for your help and have a good day !

i'll tell you what...
i bought a set of SSR's just a few days ago, they got to me in 3 days...

one of the SSR center caps was missing the rubber gromet so it couldn't be used on the car, i called and 2 days later a new SSR cap/gromet were at my door.

That's service not many companies offer these days, they have a lot to learn from these guys and how a proper business is run.
I've bought wheels in many different places, in the past three years i've bought only two sets from Tirerack but Tirerack was the only place i got wheels from without any issues.

Bought wheels/tires at Edgeracing, they weren't balanced right, needed another $60 and a half day of work lost to get them right
Bought a set of wheels/tires at another big name place (won't mention it for personal reasons), got not one, but 2 sets of wheels sent in which one or more wheels were not true (perfectly round)

From now on, Tirerack will be the place i do business with, unless they don't carry a wheel that i want.

That said, Alex, do you still have a set of Kosei K1's (six spoke ones)in silver, 17x7.5 45mm offset somewhere in any of your warehouses? Check for me please...

Alex & Tire Rack - Rock!!!

Now that I have my new 16" Ultraleggera's & Dunlop SPORT M3 tires it's time to give credit where it's due.

I could not beat the price Alex gave me on this; ANYWHERE. In the past, most of my business went to Discount Tire but moving forward it's only Tire Rack for me. Alex provided to me many options and always responded when I asked questions. No pressure; just matter of fact business dealings.

I too got my set fast, mounted & balanced then my dealer installed them for $25 TOTAL !!!!!

You will not be dissapointed as they stand behind their products and service and what you see and hear is what you get!

THANK YOU ALEX & TIRE RACK!!
THANK YOU TO THE NAM'ers WHO RECCOMENDED TIRE RACK!

BTW; I made a road trip to Vail and back today and was doing better than some SUV's!! Woohooooo!!

This thread caught my eye since I'm ordering a(nother) set of tires from Tire Rack pretty soon. An additional discount would have been fun, but I've gotta say, their prices are so low to begin with, that you're coming out ahead anyway. And I've always had great, FAST service from Tire Rack over the years, whether buying a tire and wheel package or a set of tires shipped to one of their preferred installers or just getting a quick replacement OEM runflat when I picked up a nail in a sidewall.

I have to give big props to TireRack, too. I've purchased a few sets of tires, rotors, brake pads and my Koni Yellows from them.
When one of the rear Koni's went belly-up, I called "My Guy" Frank (ext.375), and I had a replacement the NEXT day!!! I did have to buy it, but I was issued a credit when I returned the bad shock. (And they e-mailed a pre-paid FedEx lable)
THAT IS customer service!!
Thanks TireRack!!
