Just in case anyone has an Anderson's General Store near them - found a Fireman's type nozzle there for only $10.

This is the Griot's one:



It's not anodized red (like tbe one that Griot's sells for $80), nor does it have a separate water flow valve ($100 at Griot's), but it is very smooth-swivelling, has a nice, crisp and widely-variable flow pattern and, UNLIKE the one pictured above, is completely covered in rubber from end-to-end. After using S-Curves' Fireman's nozzle I was hooked, and factoring in the way that I tend to break hose nozzles using triggers in about 3 months, I figured this was a good investment.

I believe that Sears carries a competing product that's more expensive than the Anderson's model, but which is still a fraction of the price as the Griot's model, FYI.

Looks like a good buy. What is Anderson's? Smallish chain hardware stores like Ace or something?

 

I don't know how widely-distributed they are, but they have several here in Ohio. They're sort of like a Wal-mart, except thatthey seem to have begun as a hardware and farm tools store (they have lots and lots of hardware). They also sell Carhart construction clothing and work boots and that sort of thing. And... groceries. Weird place, but a good store for car and tool bargains.

 

hmmm. no andersons up north in cleveland, but i definatly need to find a hose head... last time i washed a car i used my mum's really nice gardening head... needless to say i got lazy and dropped and basically snapped the head off the shaft. she wasn't too happy, but is laughing as she reads my post right now.

 

I have the nozzle that i got from Sears...$19 (actually was on sale $14.99,
i think) i think its the same fireman's nozzle everyone else sells. BUT, it does
not spray like Griot's picture in their catalog... on mine, the dispersion is not
completely even.

its not a big deal, but if you're **** it might be better to get the Griot's one
as it seems like theirs disperse evenly for a cleaner pattern.

 

But at $100, I will take my chances with the knock off version. I am a 100% Griot's person, and I still can not bring myself to buying that nozzle. I even have the yellow bucket.

What about the LR Nelson 2510 for $9.99 from Amazon? It is one of my favorites.

 

What? No one here uses the free thumb on the end of the hose method?

 

Nope... We mostly like to be able to turn the water OFF when we scrub the dirt with our tooth brushes.

I believe Anderson's stores are only in the Toledo and Columbus area. Not more than 5 or 6 stores total IIRC. They are one of my favorite all-purpose stores though. Think Home Depot + Kroger with a little bit of WalMart on the side, only a little more upscale.

I have a similar nozzle that I found for $15-20 at either Lowes or Home Depot a few years ago. Works great, unfortunately we don't have the greatest water pressure at our house, and when the pressure drops a bit, the spray pattern leaves a bit to be desired. May have to upgrade our water pump in the future.

the one from Amazon, they sell that at my local Home Depots... I've seen the red and yellow one for about $9.99. OSH also sells it, but higher price (I think $11).

Home Depot also has this for $19.99, which I like, easier to turn on/off, than the other version where you have to twist the head.

But my garden hose water pressure isnt good, so I've tried both and it doesn't give me enough pressure as a $1.99 trigger nozzle can.

 

That's a nice one, too! Definitely something to keep in mind for a replacement if/when I need a new one.

 

Ya know, when I grow-up I want to be a fireman so this is cool!

I've got a Goodyear (I think) from Home Depot. It's completely covered in rubber and works really well. If I recall it was around $10 to $15.

 

Just picked up this Bonaire nozzle from Amazon. They had two versions. One was aluminum for $17.88 and this one is stainless steel for $22.88. Comes with a lifetime warranty. I haven't tried it out yet.

No, that's just a little paper attachment that has the warranty details. The real nozzle says "John Cooper Works" on the end.
