Any MCc with an M7 USS?
I am trying to find out if there are any Mini Cooper Cabrio's (NON-S) with the M7's Under Strut System installed. I am only interested in regular Convertible Coopers. Please post here if you have one.
I had mine installed about a month ago by Waylen. Due to the crappy weather, I haven't really tested it out. I really can't say whether I've noticed a huge difference since putting it on. I'm not saying there isn't a difference.. not just a huge one from other posts I've read... I hope I wasn't expecting too much
Overall, I'm happy with it. Definitely less understeer. I bought it back in April '06, just never had the time to put it on myself.

I have a 2006 MCC and installed the M7 USS around June. At that time I had been driving the car for about 6 months. I could feel the difference right away and it was a significant improvement. The handling became more immediate and precise. Previously I felt as though I didn't "get it" about why all the hype about MINI go-kart handling. My MCC handled well but I didn't think of it as special. The USS made enough of a difference that now I do understand the enthusiasm about MINI handling.
I installed mine this fall and it certainly made a difference. I won't be redundant here so I'll just +1 everything rkw wrote.
The install was easy except that the drill bit they send you for drilling the holes for the front strut install is HUGE. I had trouble getting the MINI high enough to get the holes drilled. I ended up putting my floor jack on a wooden platform and then put my jack stands on wooden platforms. This took me several iterations between jacking and resting to get it high enough. The whole car was up off the ground about 24" before I could get enough room to drill the front strut holes.
It may have been easier (and safer) to go down to Randy Webb's place and pay him to install it. Oh well, no harm no foul.

So I take it none of you guys had any issues with rattles? The reason I ask is that I have one on my car since March of 2006. It has been rattling since day one. Just trying to nail the cause down.
No rattles with my install. I did red lock-tite everything. I have since installed a skid plate which required the removal of the front most bolts on the front strut to allow me to slide the skid plate under the strut. After reinstalling the bolts and re-torquing, still no rattles.
I believe some were having issues with the cabrio and the M7 USS if they had installed an aftermarket exhaust. I don't know if this applies to you or if this could be the cause.

I have no issues with rattles. Mine was installed by a shop (Bay Bridge Motors) and I was not there to watch them do it. They had installed several USS's previous to mine. FWIW, I have the JCW exhaust that comes with the Sound Kit.

The M7 USS was the first mod I did to my MCC and what an amazing difference it made. Much more taut and neutral on the curves. And no rattles. I read on another thread that a Millteck exhaust will rattle with a USS. Maybe M7 has a cure. Give'em a call.

My understanding that the Milteks in question were on the MCS. Plus, mine is rattling at the cat. It either case, I've already applied all the fixes and it's still rattling. It's the weirdest thing. I must be special.
I have the stock exhaust. Since the car was on a lift, I was able to see what everyone was talking about regarding the tight fit under the CAT. Since mine was stock, there was more than enough room.
I'm assuming you're referring to adding washers to get better clearance?? That's what Waylen said to do if the bar contacts the CAT/exhaust...
