Should I paint rotor hat and edges

I'm ready to install new EBC rotors. They have some sort of finish that makes them look gold. I think it is a zinc wash but I really don't know. Since I have a lot of time before winter ends should I paint the hats to prevent rust or does this gold finish cover me?

Whatever finish is on there will burn off pretty much right away. I don't think any paint could withstand the heat, even caliper paint. If they are steel, which I'm sure they are, they will turn to rust in a few days.

if you use the ceramic paints, some are capable of withstanding 1200 deg F. I painted my rotor hats on my mazda and they've held up fine. If they have the zinc coating, they shouldn't rust too bad, I'd leave them as is. . .

I painted mine with black spray paint designed for BBQ grills and stoves. It's held up well for almost a couple of years now.
