MINI Tag Race
MINI Tag Race
Greetings,
I'm posting this for 3DGeek over on the MINIUSA Owner Network. He's got this idea for a game but it need lots of people to play it. Here's his discreption because I know I'll blow it if I try to rewrite it.

The idea is that someone on one side of the USA goes to a well known monument or other easily identified site and takes a photo of their car - posting it to a web site that I'll set up. The objective is to form a continuous 'chain' of MINI photos reaching across the country to some other famous site. Suppose (for example) that we decided to go from the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco to Time Square in New York. The first photo is of a lone MINI at the the Golden Gate bridge - then sometime later that person arranges to meet up with another MINI owner who lives somewhere off to the east. When they meet up, they take a photo of both of their cars parked together - preferably someplace nice - but it doesn't really matter. They post that photo as proof that they really did meet. Then that second person finds someone else who lives still closer to New York - and we make a chain of photos that reach all the way to the final destination. The last photo is of a lone MINI in Time Square.
At the end of the trip, we've collectively driven thousands of miles and we have the proof as a continuous chain of car photos.
Now - to make this a RACE - we start two chains - one from each end of the trip and we see which chain makes it to the opposite end the fastest.
All very good so far - but the tricky part is making sure that we have enough people along the route so that the maximum possible number of people get to participate - and so that the race is actually possible.
Since we don't yet have a good idea of where everyone lives - we need a map. So if you are interested in playing, there is a FRAPPR map showing where all of the potential participants live. Please go here:

Please add your actual location and (most important) your OL handle. You do have to own a MINI or a classic Mini to participate because photos taken with other cars will be disqualified.

There's no such thing as too far south or too anywhere for that fact. The last time I looked at the map it seems that the southern route might be the only way to get coast to coast.
There are huge holes in West Texas and New Mexico if the southern route is real. Then there are even larger gaps if you try to find a northern route.
The game creator wants to wait until we have enough people to not have drives of over 500 miles to do a handoff. So Let's Motor; Let's play tag. It's no fun to play tag when you become it and see that everyone ran to the other side of the playground. Of course no tag-back rule is in affect.

The game will work to your schedule. If you get tagged on Sunday night and it takes you a couple of days before you can get to someone else to tag/or it takes time for them to get to you so be it. That's what makes it fun and do able.
It's not to get it across the country in less than X hours. It will be fun to beat the chain coming from the other direction but it's not winning and losing that counts. It's getting a cool shot of the two MINIs together as you pass the baton (figuratively).

I hope we can generate more interest. I know there are more cars out there just how do we get people to come and play with us.I can't wait to see the trail as we start to connect the dots.
I wish I could participate in this and will add myself once I get to the US. I think it would probably go from coast-coast no problem, but so many other MINI owners will want to participate that it could go on much longer. What about some sort of "time capsul" to be handed off, eash motorer can but something significant to them in there, whatever they choose, it would be neat to get to meet other owners, and then see what all the other owners put into the box.
Just imagine the photo album of each hand-off.
