Well let's see....

Santa...
I wanna hit Hwy 25 as much as possible but that's a given

I wanna go to Little River Canyon some time next year

I wanna try Indian food for the first time in my life.
There's a new place called The Silver Coin in Hoover

& for the ladies, I plan to attend my 1st ever musical that will be in Birmingham from February-June. Me & few friends are going to a Saturday 4PM show some time in early April after daylight savings changes back as it's at the Carver Theater & I don't want us to be walking around down there after dark (If anyone has any info on the parking situation at the Carver Theater I would greatly appreciate it). Once we get a date set I was planning to post & see if any of the Mini ladies would like to join us. The show has gotten great reviews from young & old alike. I estimate tickets will run $30-$45 each but I really am not sure. Sorry to be excluding the gents but I don't think this is an outing for you as the show is Menopause the Musical

Parking at the Carver is no problem; its right near the Alabama Theatre. Any events at either one draw out the parking lot vendors. Been in that area lots for events at both and have had no problems parking or "whatever" elseBesides, I'm sure you'll be packin' heat...

Little River Canyon is on our agenda next year. Also, a Run/outdoor activity event has been discussed for the Guntersville State Park area as soon as weather permits. There has not been a set time so maybe both could be meet ups between RCM and BAMA.

Hopefully this years weather will be a little more tolerable. It's understandable that someone doesn't want to sit in their MINI at 8pm to watch a movie when it is 98 degrees.

Micro Car Museum in Georgia. . .

Would be a LONG day but would be so neat!

And yes, Little River Canyon is one of the best roads in the state. Start at the waterfall, head down the canyon and have lunch at the state park. All in all a perfect day of motoring. . . .

I'm always packing heat in the Mini but I don't usually carry it in with me anymore cause ya never know when they are going to spring those pesky metal detectors on everyone

How about the do-dah day parade, held in Birmingham in May? You know, the funky southside get-together which benefits the humane society? MINI of you have animal friends we'd like to know better as well.

A theme would be nice. Or have our critters ride with us. Maybe we could team up with the scooter syndicate? Dogs and cats- Thoughts?

A parade through the twisty backroads of southside/forest park would also be nice if we could be cordoned off. And I want to make it a point to take part in a Cheaha run. Little River sounds like big fun.

I am up for do-dah day, Petey would love it. I have tried to go for the past 3 years but have had some unforseen happening keep me away every year. Maybe we could get our pets Mini T-shirts to wear

It would be great if the rides were earlier in the day on Saturdays, say starting about 10:00 am, not too early and but not at 2:00 in the afternoon. There would be more daylight riding time (thus our clean shiny Mini's being seen in action) and it would even free up the evenings for other things.

Sundays will never work out for us, just too much going then.

If some of the rides were between B'ham and Hunstville, maybe more Motorist could join in. Location, location, location. It could make a difference in the number.

If you'd like do a Bowling thing, in a brand new smoke free facility, I could get us all in the Redstone Lanes. Oh, and Guntersville sounds great to me too.

And can I vote for smoke free restaurants while I'm at it, I'm an ex-smoker and I have asthma

My 2 pence worth

HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL!!!

Elizabeth and I are volunteers for FCDF (Friends of Cats and Dogs Foundation) which is one of the groups that do-dah-day benefits. Last year they wanted us to drive our MINI's in the parade but we were out of town.

I would LOVE for us to get together to join in the parade and have some fun combining our two loves: MINI's and homeless animals.

I bet we could even get some temporary vinyl graphics for the MINI's or figure out a way to dress the MINI's up as cats and dogs, etc.

Of course, we'd have to find a graphic designer willing to help design the graphics. . . wonder if there is anyone here that could help with that? (car 84 where are you?)

I'l start talking with the prez of FCDF about it and see if we can contact whoever does the signage for the event to get some low cost vinyl cut for our MINI's.

I'm in for driving my Mini in the do-dah parade. MBE we could figure out a way to do a nose like my Rudolph one from Christmas, hec maybe the lady that sells the Rudolph get-up would sell us some noses only(no antlers). Then MBE we could make some whiskers that would attach to the grill (dunno how in the hec they would stay put though ) or make some doggie or kitty ears to put on the roof (for the ears someone at Atlanta Minis might be of help since they have done this type of thing in a few Christmas parades) & tails coming out of the boot. Then have some side graphics with our club name & reference to fcdf

"Pets Motor", that's a good one , nobody would get it but us but it's still a good one.

If Nigel (my '80 Mini) is ready, I'll need to rent a dog to ride in my LEFT passenger seat. Count me in, even if it is on a Saturday.

I'd offer Stuckey, but I'm not cleaning up after him.

Thanks anyway, bamatt . We could have oversized graphics of our dogs and cats adorn the rear glass panels. Even if printed / tiled on tabloid sheets. Oversized foam board sheets might be nice. Snoopy on doghouse kind of antics featuring our pets through the sunroof?

Very encouraging to hear all of these ideas for the parade. The prez. of FCDF was thrilled with the idea, so let's make this a definite plan.

Keep the ideas flowing and I'll organize what I can from this end with FCDF.

I did hear that there is a prize each year for the best cars, so we can definitely shoot for that! Nobody would have a chance against a parade of decorated MINI's

Here's a good pic of what I meant by putting noses & whiskers on our Minis. It's the Atlanta Minis being mice so MBE we could email & ask them how they did it. I think the noses are that foam you use for floral arrangements (but painted black) & I am guessing it attaches via a huge bag tie (but how do you get the foam to not break (bery bery carefully ). Are the whiskers made of something you get from the dried floral dept?

We'll have no problems coming up with a well-behaved rental dog for the occasion. Of course, nobody would be required to carry any furry passengers, especially since I know that many people are much more careful with their interiors than someone like me who has to carry 3 Saint Bernards in the back from time to time.

I'm excited. I think we'll have a lot of fun and we'll do something to help needy animals.

I got a 100+ lb German Shepherd if anyone wants to rent her. She's pretty nasty though, she's an outside dog, smell and all. No way she'd get in my car. The only time she travels is to the Vet and back.

I don't think a St. Bernard will fit in the front seat of a Mini. But I have a good prospect in a friend's Lab that I get along with real well (the Lab maybe more so than the friend). Plan B is one of my son's dogs, but he's less well behaved (the dog... and maybe the son too.) One way or the other, assuming I have the car back together by May, I'll be in the parade.

A St. Bernard is not going to fit anywhere in a Mini, at least not comfortably. Mini, not MINI.
