Rota Slipstream wheel color for dark silver MCS?

I am looking at the Rota Slipstreams with a polished lip for my dark silver MCS. I've Googled and seen a bunch of pictures, but I can't get a good handle on the colors.

Black with a silver lip would look good without a doubt.

Does the royal gun metal have any brown, gold or bronze in it? If so, I don't think it would look good with DS.

Is the royal steel gray darker that the DS body color paint ? Is it a close match?

...and while I have your attention ...

Are Slipstreams clear coated or just painted?

If they are clear coated, is the polish lip clear coated also?

Thanks in advance!

I have RGM Slips. I know what you mean about trying to get a feel for the color from pics. In fact, when mine arrived I was kind of surprised, but fortunately I like the color.

Descriptions of color are about as reliable as pics on the web -- consider that fair warning -- but I'd say the RGM has a little of both brown and bronze in it. People tend to react a little like they do when the see a Royal Gray MINI "...is it gray or is it brown...or maybe a brownish sort of gray...wait, I think it looks sort of bronze-ish from this angle...or brown...ish."

Anyway, my guess is they have another color that would be a closer match to DS. If I had to guess I would say maybe their steel gray.

And yes, they have a clear coat, including over the machined rim.

Having owned a Dark Silver MCS, and both Gun Metal and Steel Grey slipstreams

Gun Metal is a little darker than Dark Silver
Steel Grey is a little lighter than Dark Silver

I've got flat gun metallic and the best part about them is that they are exactly the color of the factory brake dust so you can never tell if its been like a month since I last cleaned them

Thanks for the replies. I should stick with Steel Gray (since the stock wheels are a lighter color than DS and I know that looks good), or go with black. Either way, I really want that polished lip. Most place I've looked at on line don't offer the black with the polished lip. I better order soon because I think I'll be waiting if they are not in stock or hard to get ...

The pictures on this page (although not with a polished lip) http://www.sandmracing.com/sslipstreams.html are what concerned me about the brown in the gun metal color. Don't get me wrong, they look great, but I don't think they would work with DS.

Those do have a bronze tint to them (at least in the pictures). IF that bronze tint is evident in 'real life' I'd go with the steel gray, with a polished lip.
One thing you DON'T want is a wheel that is very close to the same color as your vehicle's paint job.

Those are some of the best photos of their gun metal I've seen.

Most of time mine look a lot like this one.

The gray gets a bit of a brown and/or bronze tint depending on the angle and the lighting, but I've never seen them look like this, regardless of conditions.

By the way, I think you're right about wanting the "royal" gunmetal - the bright lip looks great.

id probably do the regular bronze or gunmetal.

from a business standpoint rota's (imho) kinda foolish to offer so
much selection on these tuner wheels. customer can't decide.
narrow down the offering and keep the costs even lower.

Owning a DS/DS MCS, I considered this same question for some time - ultimately went with slipstreams in black w/ polished lip and wouldn't consider anything else once they were mounted up. The contrast is perfect with the look of the car completely transformed - get positive feedback constantly - especially after adding the factory aero grill.

Good luck
