car cover bends my antennae -- is that bad??

I was very surprised to discover that my brand new official MINI custom-fit car cover does not have a hole for my radio antennae -- so it has to bend for me to get the cover on... Has anyone else had this experience? Is my antennae going to be permanently bent? Should I cut a hole in my car cover???

Just unscrew the antenna, it takea bout 10 sec. and you can store it in the boot while the cover is off.

THANKS -- this is a huge help -- I just ran outside and unscrewed the antenna (didn't realize that was possible and was afraid to force it before!!)

Here is an idea. Leave off the fm antenna and get some Sirius radio.

I got one of the studly lookin' covers like DaveTinNY has. Can't believe the official MINI cover didn't provide protection for the antenna.

Which official cover do you have? I'm pretty sure my outdoor one has a hole up there for the antenna (I've got a shark fin, so it doesn't matter to me.)
I'd suggest getting the DaveT type cover. Never know when you're going to need a full body condom...

I took off my antenna a few months ago and never put it back on...I get the same FM signal, every station is just as strong!

No, its good for an antenna to be bent everytime you put the car cover on:impatient

Oh, not a rhetorical question? Mine had the big "extension" on top but a stubby works.

Is that pic of a cover above real? That is funny sh%$. I can imagine the designers making it must have been cracking up. If it isn't expensive, I want one.

The antenna is a keeper--it's what makes the MINI look like a radio controlled car! There are two fabric choices (both less expensive than the MINI indoor cover) and now even door ding prevention versions.

Or if you already have the MINI cover, some modification could give it a little Schwing!

Three options:

1) unscrew antenna prior to covering car.

2) replace OEM unit with something short and sweet like an Alta stubbie.

3) play with scissors and cut a solution.

Ha! Or a shark fin/nav antenna base underneath might look kinda nuts...

Would look really odd if someone wanted to protect their antenna ball with a cover too.
