scratched seat backs. Sand in tailgate paint

Hi all,
I did a quick search on this and couldn't find anything, so I'll apologize in advance if these are repeats. I have two things that are bugging me for which I'd like to tap the collective wisdom here about a solution

The first item is interior scratches. Specifically the hard plastic seat backs and cargo area side covers. I have minor scuffs/scratches from a nimrod previous owner that I'd like to cover or at least minimize. Has anyone had luck with any kind of dark marker or treatment or something like that?

The second item has to do with the tailgate paint. As we all know the turbulent air in the area of the tailgate seems to attract dust/dirt etc. almost the minute you put away the wash mit. It appears that some of this has actually embedded itself into my paint. I have what looks like small bits of sand actually stuck in some areas of the tailgate paint. It doesn't come out with regular washing or even scrubbing with a soft brush. I was considering using clay on it but I don't want to drag it over the surface and scratch it worse. Has anyone else experienced this? Has anyone come up with a solution? Is there anything I can do to keep stuff from doing this to the pain in the future besides frequent washing and a good coat of protective wax?

Thanks!

I have interior scratches too...so i know your pain.
Prima Nero made it much better than before, it nurished the dried
skin (?) and made it closer to the factory color. there's really not much
you can do with these interior pieces unless you get a seat cover and
cover it up. im not sure if there's any paint that matches the factory
interior color.

i would still use clay for that hatch. just go easy, and use lots of
lube.

What ken said.
Why worry about scratches? After the clay bar, you would of course do a couple of coats of swirl remover, a coat of polish and a few coats of wax - that should get things smoothed out nicely.

If you know there are lots of particles - lots of lube, short strokes, and turn/toss clay frequently.
