lightweight mesh wheel
lightweight mesh wheel
What is the lightest 17" mesh wheel I can get for $250? I like the look of the R90 and ASA AR1, but they are heavy. BBS are lighter but much more expensive. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Flik Wasp 19 lbs $99
Flik Arctic 18 lbs $99
Enkei RPM2 18 lbs $202
PIAA Sport Mesh 21 lbs $209
The Ultraleggeras essentially look like the AR1, both are multi spoke. And I do realize that they are $15.00 more than you wanted to spend, but when does that matter when we are buying mods.
The Palo Uber wheels are very nice but 20.5 lbs. The ultraleggeras are nice also but not quite the look I am after. If I found the wheel I was after, an extra $15 wouldn't bother me a bit.
I am starting to think the mesh style doesn't really come in light weight. The BBS LM 17x7.5 is 19.9lbs and more than I wanted to spend. The Work VS-XX was in the 20+lb range for a similar size.
Does anyone know of a 14-16lb mesh wheel at any cost? I am curious if such a creature exists.

The ultraleggeras are not quite wire mesh design but nice.
In 16x7 they are $189 and only 14.5 pounds each (Nice)
Offset is +37mm which is not for lowered MINIs. OK for stock suspension.
ASA AR1 are only in 17x7" $159 each (good price) various finishes (Chrome is slightly heavier), +42mm offset is good for lowered MINIs 20.7 pounds.
It is heavier than some rims but not overly heavy. For an MCS it's probably fine. It's a nice wheel for the money.
The Enkei RPM2s in 17 are about 17-18 lbs each as I recall (you can ask a vendor) and are very affordable

There are also TSW mech wheels that look good and are not very expensive, no idea on weight though.

Says who? In a 16 I highly doubt there will be an issue with rubbing. People are running 17s with lower than +37mm offsets with no rubbing on lowered cars.
I hope your right, as I plan on lowering my car in the future. Probably will not go for coil overs, alittle to expensive, will go for springs and go for 1.5 inches, hope it works.
