I am also ordering the alarm from classicmini (along with Euro parcel shelf, MCS pedals and gas cap)

I already have the installation manual and seems fairly easy. Some have already installed it and had no problems.
The only problem you might come across is the labor cost of your local MINI dealer to program the alarm to be recognized by the Body Control Module (BC1).

MINI installation time for the kit is 1.25 hrs. To recode the BC1????....depends on your dealer labor rate.

Good Luck!!!

I bought the Alarm kit from my dealer for $325 ( I got a discount through my brother who works for Audi dealer ) it took all of an hour to plug in the four components. Had the dealer code the alarm on my last visit, they quoted .5 hour of labor but did not charge me since they had to recode the lights.

A friend of mine did it. The ultrasonic module was already installed and plugged in. He bolted up one unit under the hood and one in the right rear where the first aid kit goes. The "hardest" part was swapping out the wiper stalk. Looked pretty simple.

I probably will be doing it on my 2002 MCS, because in the past two weeks, the car theft has gone up 37% in my area , and at my High School, there has been two cars stolen in the past three days.

ATTENTION 2002 MINI OWNERS!!!!
The 2002 alarm is a customer ordered option installed only at the factory!!!
The 2003 alarm kit (P/N 82 11 0 300 295) will not work for the 2002 because it is not prewired for it.

The 02 MINI will need the retrofit kit (P/N 65 75 0 029 310) which includes the main wire harness, but very labor intensive to install (just the harness, not including the components). It can get expensive.

Both kits will still need to be re-coded after the install.
Good Luck, all!!!
