Ordered the 06 MCS in September and checked the OEM alarm option. Got to looking at my order sheet and it said 785 dollars installed.

So I called my MA and cancelled it. Got to thinking after I took delivery that living on one of biggest theft islands around I should get it. So I figured I better have the dealer install it because my luck would be it would fry my computer and no warranty.

I went back to my SA all ready to argue why it was going to be so much for 300 dollars worth of parts and an hour of labor when he told me it was gonna cost me only 367 dollars installed.

Are all dealers like this?

In a word: yes.

Dealership sales guys usually get most of their commissions from accessories and add-ons, so they're almost always VERY negotiable on the price. I'm glad you got a better price!

 

I was negotiating with two different dealers when I decided to buy. The one wanted $595 for the alarm installed and the other $395. Since both dealers were equidistant from me (about 1 3/4 hours) and there was really no negotiating on the price of the car itself, needless to say, I went with the one who had the best pricing on the dealer installed items I was looking for.

The higher priced dealer was offended that I didn't give him the business...
