MCSc - Can I install 205/50-16?
The OEM tires (Dunlop 3000 DSST in 195/55-16 size) need to be replaced. A friend is recommending I move to the 205/50-16 non runflat sized tire. I am considering the Bridgestone Potneza G 009 tire.
Will this larger size tire fit on my existing rims? Any disadvantages to this size?
I don't drive the car really hard and I would like something with a balance of ride comfort, quiet, traction and durability. Any other suggestions?
Thanks.

I'm running aftermarket (Konig "Holes") rims: 16"x7" and have had zero fitment issues on my MCSc with two different sets of 205/50R-16 tires (Kumho ECSTA SPT and Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3) These tires are basically identical in outer dimensions to my OEM 205/45R-17 Dunlop perfromance runflats. Very good tire size choice.

I ran these in auto-x and on the street. Kumho 712s.
I do run 215-50 16s on a set of 16x6.5 wheels( my street setup) and have had zero issues in 2 years.
Goodrich Traction TAs. Tiny bit taller, .1" but the sidewall is the same. I even did an auto-x session on them and they held up well.
Quite happy with the tires. At $105 ea they're a good deal.
i have 205/50-16 on my track setup, and so far so good, i cna say that i miss the instaneous acceleration of my previous 215/40-16, but its nice to drive the car on the track knowing when to shift!
my tires are hankook ventus Z214 C50 compound, they do rub on my lowered MCS, with 3mm spacer up front to clear the wilwood brakes.... but that said, they are r-compounds and have very square shoulders
