Am I correct in assuming that the aftermarket brake rotors and big-brake kits out there won't work out-of-the-box with MINI's new 14mm lug bolts?

If not, is the solution as simple as having the lug holes in the rotors drilled out to the appropriate size, or is that a no-no with rotors?

So far you are correct on both counts. Drilling the iron hat will pose no problem to do.
