Poll :: November Photo Contest :: Sponsored by VacuCam

This month's topic was "Interior Lighting." Admittedly this topic does have a pretty high degree of difficulty, but we still had 10 entries. Please review them all before voting.

#2 Hmm, never thought of adding Ms. Speednut's legs in a photo, maybe I should have.

#3 Test mode with layers?

#4

#5 Cool effect with tear drop shape on all light sources; handheld?

#8 I think I've seen that name somewhere before?

#9 Love the lighting and composition of this shot. Dog looks cool to, especially as it's looking at the great scenery outside. On or off camera flash in the car? A TwoMinis photo (can't determine the exterior color)?

7 is a commendable effort, but it's too much of a 'slow read' to have a chance.

Photo 3 gets my vote. I have always tried very hard to do a similar shot, however, I could never find a good mount for the camera that would eliminate the camera shake. Looks like you figured it out .

Sorry, but the contest rules say entries are to be no larger than 800 pixels and the original was over 1000. When images are greater than 800 pixels, the "medium" size from the gallery is used in the poll.

9... nice work with inside/outside light, the dog is cool.
1... again nice work with outside/inside light. I like the way the CF center comes out in the red light.
8... This one is the one I voted for. I like the angle, and the way the light plays with the texture and curves of the dash. The sharp shadow lines help the eye move through the pictrue.

Only 10 entries? I guess I wasn't the only one too busy with life and the holidays and never got around to taking some photos. Mad at myself for being lazy. :(

Difficult topic this month. I had heard a rumor that it would bring out the "artists and professionals"

1. I love the red off the carbon fiber. I see two pictures in this one.
2. Sex sells "Red-light MINI". Nice legs

3. Reminds me of the HAL 9000 I can't help but stare into the "eye". I like the blur of the speedo needle, but the ignition was off, as the temp and fuel gauge are buried.
4. I get it and really appreciate the personal interpretation of the subject. Nicely done
5.Awesome Sweaty. How did you do that?
6.Mood Lighting...I feel like I should sit down and have a romantic dinner w/ my wife. Agree that a lava lamp would have been cool.
7.Should have been bigger.
8. Seafair - Seattle rocks!
9. Woooof Wooof...looks like the pooch is spotting squirrels
10. Has great potential and reads like a fierce face, but needed just a bit more interior lighting, IMO.

Silly me, I didn't realize that. Now that's thinking outside of the box.

I've got a feeling my slow brain is missing something here too.

It's actually not CF, but the "Park Lane" interior trim option on 06s.

Technically, it's one photos with three exposures. I've been paying closer attention to car ads and noticing how they made some of the shots. Most could only be done with layers and I wondered if I could also do this. This month's theme made the push for me to try and I can honestly say it looks perfect at the original size of 3000x4500 pixels too. This wasn't my first choice for location, but had the best lighting in the timeframe I had available. Tripod was setup once and three exposures were made (interior shot with red plastic film on flash, NAV LCD screen, then the Palace of Fine Arts). Rest was more practice on layering and masking in PS (just like car advertisements).

Now I'd really like to know how my favorite photo #9 was done, especially the lighting?

Thanks speednut

My favorite is #9 as well.

It was done on a Sony DSC-W1, f/2.8, ISO 100, focal length 7.9, w/ flash

Mother nature did the rest...

PDQ crit...

1 — Nice interior ...exterior could be darker & more interesting

2 — Novel idea...kinda dark

3 — Getting there...could be sharper

4 — Nice execution. Could take out the hottest spots on the door, below the headlight, and on the grille

5 — sweet...doesn't need the captions

6 — Might look better without the lamp in the frame

7 — Nice long exposure ...exterior could be more interesting

8 — Could be darker...crop/perspective doesn't quite work for me

9 — Everybody loves dogs ...could be slightly darker overall, with the exterior darker still

10 — Too dark, not balanced...looks sinister

Looks better if you turn down your interior lights, i.e. those in the room w/ the computer monitor. Just sticking to this month's theme of "interior lights"

*bump...for peeps to vote....24 hrs to go....
