1st Annual Charity Drive and Dinner. We will meet in the parking lot of Target store on Albemarle Road. There is a gas station there for everyone to fill up if need be. We will start gathering around noon and leave 1pm. The drive will be 3 hours with stops for restroom breaks making it appoximately 4 hours. ending up in Mint Hill NC. with Lunch and DOOR Prizes etc. Lunch will be at a nice restrauant with very reasonable prices. Meat - 2 sides or 1 side and salad and soup 7 - 8 bucks. More details to follow. If you would like to join in on this 1st annual please sign up. January 20th 2007 a Saturday. Each person can donate $10. and it will all go to the Speedway Childrens Charity. Just did my 2nd run and for those of you who have a map this is the route From Target hwy 24/27 to Biscoe NC turn right at light at RR Tracks to hwy 220 Alt. hwy 220 to Rockingham turn right on Bus 74 west to 74 west thru Wadesboro to Polkton turn right at BP Station to hwy 218. Hwy 218 to Mint Hill, turn left on hwy 51 go thru next light turn right into shopping center Jimmie's Restruatant. Took me 3 hours 15 minutes with one break stop. Route is 150 miles long.

Going to try for 20th Jan 07. Also would like some suggestions as to having a 50/50 drawing or 10 bucks per person to draw card with high card taking a percent and rest to charity. Any other suggestions?

Really if it's going to be a charity run, might as well have the whole pot go to charity. The drive is what us MINI owners get out of it. Of course that doesn't mean people can't donate gas money to a poor college student .

 

If a college student is willing to make that suggestion, I say "Go with it"! All to charity!

Hmmm... this one might be a little iffy for me. I am in school until 1pm that day.

If I get out early, I might be able to make it. I guess it'll just have to be one of those "wait and see" things.

If I show up by 1, it means I got out of class early. If I am not there, it means I got out of school to late to join you. :(

Nice job on the route Luke, even I couldn't have been lost. The twisties at the end were the best. Plus, I've heard of but not previously been to Uwharrie or Lake Tillery!

Thanks for everyone coming out for the 1st Annual Charity Drive. We raised $200.00 for Charity and everyone seemed to enjoy the drive and it was a beautiful day. Thanks to the Hendrick staff for their support and next year I hope its bigger and better. Thanks for all the volunteers who gave Miniless George a ride. I know he enjoyed it greatly and hope to see him back in a Mini soon. If you got some good photo's send them to the newsletter editor ED and he will take care of them for the upcoming newsletter.
