My *** Hybrid Cooper

Got my Cooper a month back.

List of mods done:-

1. SARD Vacuum Hoses
2. HKS custom CAI kit
3. PIVOT volt stabilizer
4. Custom extractor
5. Custom 2.25" SS piping
6. Custom twin exhaust setup

Pics to come later....

Question to all the experts here, how much HP can the CVT tranny take.

I am thinking of a 50 shots wet NOS setup?

Will my Cooper survive it.

Yay or Nay?

TIA.

Nay, I'd certainly advise against adding any forced-induction or NOS to any CVT-equipped vehicle. Not to mention, the CVT was never designed to hold up to that much power and I wouldn't want to think of the repercussions of supplying more power than it can reliably handle.

The CVT is running near it's limits already with a stock Cooper engine. Nitrous will grenade it for sure. Also, the same is true for a Midlands 5 speed for the most part, though some have apparently run it for a while at least with no real issues. If you are looking to swap your trans for a manual, get the Getrag 6 speed, it's been taking a lot of abuse around here with no issues to speak of.

A MINI aftermarket company called Diamond (don't actually know if they're still around) had an early CVT Cooper they said would out pull any stock S. I remember reading reports from eyewitnesses who said it was very quick and that the "will out pull any stock S" claim was more than valid. Did it last? Dunno.....

Nope, that's a different guy, and according to his sig it looks like he's driving an S now. I'm not even sure the folks from Diamond posted on NAM.

edit: Just remembered, it was Diamond Racing, located somewhere in Nevada.

I talked to them when they first made that car.....it lasted long enough to be shown in the GOmini magazine with the turbo still. And that was a few years later.

Im may last for 20 shot. But with 50 you are pushing it. Unless you rebuilt the head.
