Best products to carry when you don't use runflats?

Like many of you I replaced my stock RunFlats in the first few weeks of ownership. I was wondering what the best products are to carry in the boot incase there is a flat? Fix a flat, slime, air pump? On long trips I put my stock wheel in the boot.

Cell phone. And tire plug kit+can or compressor. I fixed a runflat on the spot, and have even plugged sidewall punctures before for temporary use.

Read about Dynaplugs on some Porsche Forums. Everyone raved about them.

I carry these and a small compressor. (and a cell phone and AAA card!)

For me it's a donut spare from a Cooper snugged away behind the passenger seat in a Jersey Girl bag. The jack & lug wrench are already in the back of your car.

Called around or poked around internet and found a spare

Have an 04 MCS and went to 16 inch non-runflats. Called around and got a spare from an MC in a salvage yard. Sits behind passenger seat wrapped up in a cloth. For overkill I also have an air compressor and fixa flat.

should be okay, but if you're really worried, you can go to radioshack
and get a harness with large allegator clips on one end and a female
cigarette lighter on the other. connect it directly to your battery.

I have plugged in a small compressor in both the center consul outlet and the one in the boot and there seems to be no problem with either.

I also carry some "Slime" and a tire plugging kit. Everything fits nicely in the 2 covered compartments in the boot (that disappear for 2007, bummer ) and takes up no boot floor space.

These look great, more compact than regluar tire pluggers. I might have to get one of these to go in my post 2007 MCS.

Slime & Etc.

I heard that once you inject these things into your tire, it just slaps around inside the tire; plus, you can never fix the tire again. It's not that I don't like fixing flats, I'm serious. I drive an '02 MCS and the car did not come with a spare; didn't even come with a jack. I inquired at the MINI dealership about a jack and was told they were something like $69. BUT, now this is the good part, if I wanted a jack handle so that the jack would actually work, well, my friends, that was extra. Can you dig this?

I'm kinda with you on the Slime thing - I carry slime, but only plan to use it as a last resort.

I've plugged several tires (like 8-10) over the last 20 years, and NEVER had a problem afterward, and NEVER taken it to get it "patched" on the inside afterward, and always run those tires until there was no tread left... so I'm a big fan of plugging...

Ditto what everyone else is saying. Also, if you value your rims, don't use slime--there's a very good chance it'll ruin them--or getting the stuff off will ruin them. A plug is the way to go if at all possible.

I have a small compressor, plug kit, and a can of fix-a-flat. Fix a flat is the very last think I'll use, but figure it doesn't hurt to have along. I've had two flats in the last three years, both caught by the low tire pressure monitoring system. Pulled off the road, found the low tire and plugged on the spot. ~15 minute delay.

My 2006 MCS came with a jack & tools, but no spare. I bet a jack could be had pretty cheap. Try posting a WTB ad in the Marketplace forum. That's where I found my donut spare.

No spare; no jack

Thanks Chuck, but I'm seriously using a jack I used with an old SUV. Yeah, it actually fits beneath the MINI. And I kept the old handle. And just to prove I'm not absolutely helpless, I even have one of those spoke goodies to losen the lug nuts. Look at all the money I'm saving by never cleaning my carport, believing that everything old is new again.

Good to hear you are recycling. I hold on to things that I'm sure I need. Sometimes I have things kicking around for years & years. The day after I get rid of something I need it. Darn!!!

Did anyone purchase the optional Mini Mobility Kit, and if so, was it worth it?

What's the MINI Mobility Kit? Can you afford to buy it AND send your kids to college?
