Going back to G stock

I am going back to G stock. Tire of getting my butt kicked in STX. I had a lot of fun though! One of you could probably use this. More to follow.

What mods placed you into STX? Only the rear swaybar? A cold air intake?

G-stock is fine.

Run R compound tires on 16x6.5" stock or similar rims for the most advantage. Look for 215/40-16 tires.

If you run with street tires in G-stock you'll give up alot of time potentially.

If you just have one set of rims and want to use them for both street and autocross then a compromise is stock 16" rims and either Hankook Rs2 Z212 or Falken Azenis Rt615 in 215/45-16.

If you have 17x7" MINI rims you need to save them for street use and switch to 16" rims ASAP.

The one of the reasons I was not very competitive in STX was lack of LSD. The only mods I had were, rear bar, CAI, camber plates, wheels, and Azenis. The mods helped a lot and the car handled great, but the development on the WRX's outpaced the MINI after the first year or so. I gave up on the rest of the mods and saved my $$. I enjoyed running STX but I need a chance to win occasionally. A fault of mine I guess.

I will still be outmatched in GS at Tour events and divisionals with the '05+ MCS, but in GS I will still have a chance to be near the top if I drive really well and not too many '05 MCS or Spec V's show up.

The only decision left for me now is Hoosiers, Avon, or Kumhos. Most likely the V710's.
