Please Help

I orderd the front aero grille from Mini Mani and it arrived at my granparents house yesterday. I payed for shipping when I purchased the product and my grandparents just called and said that the box was here and that they had to pay and extra $41 to take delivery!! WTF is that normal? I'm sorta ticked off a little that no one told me about this and there's nothing on the UPS tracking web site that shows this!

Anyone have any thoughts as to what this charge might be?

Bling tax?

Guess you'll have to quiz Mini Mania about this because it sounds so odd.

XD, ya I paid them back. That made me laugh.

I found out that it was the import tax, seeing as how I've never ordered anything from the states before I was unaware that there was an import tax when you cross the border. But thanks for the quick responses everyone.

At least I have my grille, now I only have to find the instructions on how to install, I've seen it around the forum somewhere!

This is our friends at Canada Customs and Canada Post squeezing the last bit of life out of your wallet

I would check with your supplier next time they may be able to provide a rough estimate on final costs. You can also try Coopersport he is Canadian based and is used to dealing with this rather dubious activity.

Anyhoo..once the aero grille is installed you will forget the whole sorry affair and order something else.
Just like the rest of us

This happens to people over on the cycling forums all the time. I ordered a bunch of stuff from a shop in the UK, and got it with no problems. One of the guys in Canada placed and order to the same shop, and got dinged with all sorts of fees.

Thanks guys, I love this site!

One minor hiccup, the fasteners for teh top grille aren't comming of as easily as I would have liked them to and I am afraid of applying anymore pressure to "assist" the removal.

Any suggestions as to what I should do or how I can remove them without snapping them?

put a small straight blade screw driver behind it, give it a twist to give pressure to the back side while turning the nut with a small socket. here is a good tip. lay an old sheet down over the engine (only when cool). it will catch any parts that drop like nuts or plastic washers. once in the engine bay they may never come out.

Give us a shout at Coopersport.ca and we'd be happy to explain what you're actually paying for. We'd be glad to help you with anything you need in the future.

Cheers,
Jason.
