Tony, wish I had the money lying around to burn on a racecar. Either one would be a great racer. On your cars that you're prepping for 07, are you using the new R56? If they're already being developed, I'd imagine you're using R53's, unless MiniUSA pulled some strings and got you a couple 07's a bit earlier.
Tony, Inquiring Track drivers would like to know:
1. Where are the usual engine, tranny, electrical...failures for a MINI S on the track ?
2. Can we, as track or race prepped MINI owners, do upgrades to try and prevent failures in our engine ?
3. What lubricants do you suggest ?
Phil

Test Days at Daytona and no Nuzzo. The first race of the season is in about 3 more weeks... http://www.grand-am.com/Home.asp
As I thought .... I think he's done.

I just checked the line-up (http://www.grand-am.com/Events/Entry...sp?EventID=191) for the Daytona race and looks as if T. Nuzzo has jumped ship to VW. He's listed as co-driver for GSM Racing driving a VW GTI.
At least we have RSR to root for.

Scottinbend et al,
Let me set the record straight. First I didn't jump ship. I race as a profession its not a hobby or a part time job, its what I do full time. I have enjoyed the support of MINI fans thought out North America and the R.O.W for the past four seasons. I am proud to have been a pioneer in MINI Racing history and I'm proud to have earned MINI its first professional podium as well as many other firsts, including placing MINI in the top ten for the manufactures championship for the past four years with our highest placement of 5th. Not an easy task as a privateer with a 2 car team going against full factory efforts with many more cars.
As many of you know I have shared the complete experience with you, all the highs and all the lows, I have shared hard earned technical experiences and have helped many of you with advice, parts and know how.
I race because it is what I do. I'm not here for ataboys or any of that.
But I do take exception to uninformed people who write one liners on the internet and think they have a clue as to what is going on. You don't. Maybe instead of implying that I have somehow betrayed a community of car lovers, you should just say thank you for the memories or don't say anything at all.
As far as Randy goes he's a friend and I wish him all the best, after all he got his first professional race start in one of my cars and I would love to see him do well.
See you at the Races

Tony,
My apologies if what I posted came across as an insult. It was not meant to be by any means. I support your decisions and mean no disrespect.
Good luck with your new team and we'll wave as we pass you by ! LOL

I think Tony Nuzzo has been a great part to the MINI world. He was racing cars before the MINI so it was just time to move on.
Watching Tony in the Mini made me get into Autocrossing. I also started doing Track days after seeing him out on the Track. So Next year I'm going to be watching the MINI's and the GTI.

... see ya...
By the way Nuz, I don't remember a whole lotta input offered toward the Mini community about any aspect of our cars, so please don't get caught up in your own hype about how much you have done for the Mini community, because your tech input has been about zero.

ughh, I think I'm going to un-subscribe to this thread. lol Nothing good can come of this. Anyway, Tony, I wish you luck in the future regardless of what make/model car you race. Hopefully down the road we will see you in a turbo Mini. ;-)
I had been hesitant to reply... but finally decided to.
Nuzzo and MINI's got me re-involved with GrandAM racing. I've been a fan of his, and followed all of his races, often sitting at my computer looking at a grid for almost 2 hours, or listening, if there was a broadcast. I've had my share of posts in this forum, including one of very detailed photos of his cars.
That all said, it would have been nice if he started a thread explaining that he's moving-on, saying goodbye to us all, looking back on the memories, and thanking us for the support. The selling of his racecars is the notice apparently, and I guess I feel a little short-changed by that...
In support of onasled, I must agree. There were unfortunately quite a few mechanical failures on the track for the MINI's, and I seem to recall many folks asking, myself included a couple of times, for the details as to what exactly happened. Such information is valuable to know, even for street-driven MINI's, and to drive the aftermkt for some creative solutions...
I never complained about it though... no hard feelings.

Just curious though, what kinda "tech input" did he offer you?
