Good Motoring Roads...?

are there any good motoring roads in the Ft. Lauderdale, Vero Beach, or Melbourne area? i have only seen straight flat roads. I haven't been looking that hard but i would like to know if anyone has found any.

Thanks..

Your asking alot from Florida! There are some fun vacant streets out in Viera. There is also a fun slow road riverside in Rockledge.

Not real familiar with Southern Florida (South NY / NJ) that much, there are some great back roads in Hardee, Desoto and Manatee counties

Northern Florida has a good number of scenic roads in around the White Springs and Tallahassee areas.

ootah is right. Being a Miami native, I'm sorry to say that you're going to be hard pressed to find a road that isn't flat and doesn't involve an overpass in S FL. Your best bet is to head to the central and northern parts of the state for more interesting terrain.

I've found a few fun places in Coral Gables...unfortunately they are residencial areas. The fun parts are the perfect sized roundabouts. That's the best I've found so far. I've been searching on my long commutes everyday. I'll let you know if I find anything else...

Gables has some curvy roads and lots of roundabouts...it's easy to get lost though. Also, having fun in the roundabouts really eats up the tires. It's always fun to see the looks on people's faces when you go around a roundabout 3 times and then take off though...but be warned, it isn't that great aside from the circles...quite flat and dull driving like the rest of south FL.

By far the best scenic road in Florida is from Homestead to Key West.

And most drivers down here will only make 3 of them before running off the road and into a canal.

Do you remember the intersection? Sounds like fun!

I was on my way to a friends house on Collins the other night and found another. Once you get off of 395 and make a left onto Alton, its a long winding road, definitely a lot of fun. Only problem is there are a lot of cops and the speed limit is 30. I looked down and saw I was doing 50+ so be careful. On the way home I saw a black MCSc pulled over :(

We have one awesome turn in Ft Walton Beach. If you're ever in the area look me up and I'll show you which corner it is.

In Miami try Old Cutler Road from the Coconut Grove area on south. It is a beautiful drive with lots of tree canopies and some curves. Nice place to have the sun roof open or the convertible top down.

Another pleasant drive is to go from downtown Miami south on Biscayne Boulevard-US1 to the entrance to Key Biscayne and take that across to the Key. When you get out to the end of Key Biscayne but before the state park at the end, turn right into the residential areas and there are some interesting areas along the water.

Just back from a trip to Key West and back on Friday.

Not any real turns, but a beautiful ride through the Keys.

Logging just under 1,000 miles for this trip, I've got to figure out how far north 500 miles will get me and what kind of curves I can find.

That could easily be done on a weekend with just one nights stay.

+1

This is one of the advantages of the living in the Grove. I absolutely love this drive, its a great way to kick off the weekend.
