They look cool.. but honestly I would never buy tail lights that are selling for 37 dollars. I don't know, things usually just arent too good to be true.. you get what you pay for.

oh and plus shipping is outrageous.

Those aren't bad. Yes, you do get what you pay for, but its only $37. If they're crap or something, just swing by the dealer or put the stock ones back on.

Do what you want!

Look at the guy's feedback - if you see lots of "these things he sells look like crap and broke after 15 minutes" then run away, otherwise, for the price, why not take a chance? For the price, if they DO dissapoint, you can always de-install them and carry on with a minimum of teeth gnashing and clothes-rending.

I actually considered buying those a couple weeks ago...I believe they are worth a try; the total cost will be $37+25 shipping= $62, but still less than 1/2 dealer price. They are obviously not bad since his feedback is 98.7% and you can always go back to factory if you don't like them.

they are only cheaper than the oem prices because they dont come with the bulbs or the electrical board. I have a friend who has/had the clear lights that you can get for that price and the fit and finish was spectacular. You just need to reuse the bulbs you had in before hand. Go for the cheaper set

That's great info, Rally... thanks! I see tails all the time for a fraction of the manufacturer's cost and I always wondered why that was.

i think they were only like $250 or something for the pair.
check with ClassicMINI if you'd like, or go to the dealer
and ask for the factory option tail lights.

these might only 'fit' the 02-04's unless you do a little
wiring mod for the backup clear light where you see
on my car, it's near the bottom of the aero bumper.

a light is a light... you can make anything work. just be ready to
wire up a 3rd center backup light if the one you're getting does not
offer the backup light (and if you don't already have the center backup
light like on the older models like mine).

I see. I did not realize that these lights dont come with a backup/reverse light. I do have the rear fog light, so my question is how can I make this work?

If you have a '05 or an '06 with the rear fogs, what I've heard some people do is simply turn on the rear fogs while they're in reverse.

OR, if you're worried you'll forget (I know I would), you can splice the rear fog lamp into the backup lights' power leads, thereby turning it into a center-mount reverse light (like '02-'04 MINIs have).

There's probably a way to splice the wiring such that you can control the rear fog with EITHER the switch OR by splicing them into the backup light power lead, but if you plan to do that, I'd post over in the "Electrical Mods" forum to see if anyone's ever tried that and had any problems with popped fuses or anything.
