What does Mini cover for oil changes?

When I bought my Mini in March of 06, the sales associate told me that I would get my first oil change for free and then the rest are out of pocket for me. But when I called the service department they told me that oil changes are covered up to 3,000miles/3years. Has it always been that way or is this a new thing??

Another thing, I dropped my car off for an oil change on Wednesday and picked it up on Saturday. And my oil change didnt come with a car wash! Maybe I'm spoiled, because my previous car was a New Beetle, and every single time I took it in for service at the VW dealership, I was provided for with a car wash. But when I called and spoke to the sales dept, they said it was a complimentary service that I should have recieved, but the reason I didnt get one most likely was because they didnt have enough time. BUT, my car was dropped off on Wednesday and I didnt have time to pick it up until Saturday.

Is it a big deal, I was really anticipating a clean car when I picked up my mini. :(

Also, my dad's Lexus has complimentary car washes anytime he wants, is that something Mini dealerships offer too???

At Baron Mini the scheduled service --all of it-- is taken care of gratis up to 36,000 miles or 3 years. Not sure on the car wash thing, though even Saturn will do that most of the time these days. I would expect Mini would too unless it is pouting rain outside.

I am wondering about tire rotation though, if they will do that too.

The service department is right. You get free oil changes (and other services) for the first 3 years or 36K miles. Just schedule an appointment when your service indicator drops to 1K miles or it's been a year since your last change.

You're probably better off not getting the free car wash, unless you prefer swirls. Wash the MINI yourself and it will look better in the long run!

As for free car washes whenever you want, that's not required by MINIUSA. Of course dealers are more then welcome to give their customers whatever free services they want.

I think it was a good thing you didn't have the dealership
wash your car.
I've heard about way too many horrible things that have happened
when they wash your car- mostly leaving swirl marks that you
can't get out all over your car. Everyone seems to reccomend
that you tell the dealer NOT to wash your car when you take
it in for anything.

Be thankful you did not receive a free carwash.

But if you really want it, ask for it next time and they'll do it for you.

I always tell them "No car wash, please". They use mineral laden water that leaves water spots.
