New Checks Now What? New Photos too!

I just received my JCWs checkerd mirror caps and floormats for my DS Mini. Somehow I thought the black n white license plate would tie in the black n white checks it did but just not as much as I had hoped.

I guess its of to a sign shop to get some gloss black n white vinal tape. The idea is to check out my chrome roll bars. What do you guys think?

I love Birthday money

Looks good, so far ! Checkered roll bars, never thought of that one (of course, I don't have to). But that would be pretty kewwwwl, IMO.

How about the checkered rear view mirror cap ? And don't forget the checkered valve stem covers... small, but high on the "wow" factor.

They're $49.95 at MossMini.com. Let me know if you have a problem finding them on that site and I'll go back on and send you the direct link to the page where their rear view mirror caps are listed.

I'll have to defer that question to a cabrio owner, DSA. I wasn't aware the mirrors are different in them.

I am not sure you see my old '03 was different than my '05. Could it be the entire mirror changed. My old hard top had the auto dim and connected to the window.

One question? The mirror caps cover the factory caps like the rear mirror cap does?

Thank you for the pictures. Now I really know the check floormats rocks . Are they sold in sets of 4?

For the archs, why don't you ask a professional like Mike of AC and see what can he do?

Hey DSA.. you could try doing this also:

The checkered decals on top are definitely eye-catching (pic of bamatt's MCSC https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...t=45723&page=2 )

The mirror caps pop right off and you replace them with the checkered ones. Be careful popping them off as they have plastic clips and break easily. As for the checker mats they come in sets of 2 or 4.

I saw that cabrio roof strip at cooperflags.com cool looking. I am thinking real hard on the rollbar idea.

DSA, After reading flannelhippie's thread where he's selling a checkered mirror cap, it appears that website I referenced above will be the correct mirror cap for you cabrio. He seems confident in saying this will fit 2004 and newer MINIs. This would align with you saying your 03 mirror was smaller.

Seems the only difference in the mirrors on the 2004 and newer models is that there's one for the auto rain sensor wiper and one without.

I see you already ordered, so I'm late telling you to try Morristown, as that is where I got mine. If you have the mirror with the button controls on it (for garage door openers, etc.) the cap will need a little modification though to fit properly or you lose the use of the buttons. Morristown's service department made a neat little cut-out though to accomodate it. Here's mine in the signature.

I'm liking it !!

Damn, I gave you the idea, DSA, and you got yours before mine arrived ! Of course, I won't get to install mine until December 25th, so it's no big hurry. (gotta love Christmas gifts you pick out yourself)

I was very surprised that it came so quickly I ordered it on Monday. I would have waited till Chistmas but it was Birthday money after all. It is very thinand goes on in seconds very nice finish. I will stop by a sign shop to get the vinal for the roll bars. Then I think I am done.

Hmmm....

So, I have the non-auto-dim mirror WITH the universal garage door opener. I know the description says these do NOT work with the UGO mirrors - but can someone who has one describe the material, how it stays on, etc? I'm wondering if I dremel out the little chunk on the bottom around the UGO buttons if it will fit / work / stay attached... I know ultimately I won't know until I experiment with MY $50... but would love any insight from you folks who have actually installed one of these...

Thanks

Bahhhhh! You're never done! That's like saying "I can quit at any time....".

How about powder coating your rims in a checkerboard pattern. Until some one sees it and copies you, you'll have a truly one of a kind MINI.

Agree with Feedback. A MINI owner is never down modding. By the time you get everything you want, you think of something else or you want to re-do something differently. I can see it coming already.

Hey... speaking of checkerboard mods, here's one that I thought of a couple days ago and I started to put the plan in motion. What do you think ?

Vinyl checkerboard decal for the gas tank filler door.

On the CR MC I'll have checkered side mirrors, rear view mirror, gas cap door, and the valve stem covers. Too much ?? I think not.
