ok guys & gals,

my new mini is new , but when its at idle, does your engine make squeaking noise? this is my first mini and had some concerns, like 'back-fire or blurburring noise' from the muffler and later found out it was normal. But i think this squeaking noise is not.... can everyone share there idle for me?

My 06 MCS did that within 200 miles of ownership. It turned out to be a faulty belt tensioner. It was replaced under warranty.

It is squeaking or possibly squealing??? Squealing might be the rediculously loud power steering. Mabey help, prob just a suggestion.

 

explain squealing, highpitched like a pig? or possibly the fan? when I first got the mini I was veryimpressed at how loud the fan was when It kicked in haha

 

I have no such sounds coming from under my bonnet!

I'm nearing the end of the break-in period and I have nothing like that going on. Woohoo!

My wife has squealed a few times but that's a reflection of my driving not the car.

 

no. you shouldn't have any squeeks or squeels at idle.
