Electrics question MINI wide impact

2500 on my MINI (fresh warranty) and I just got the gomini 3rd brake light pulsar kit (chip). It sounds like a great idea so I had the torx driver out to install it and it occured to me, "How will this impact my warranty?" You have to splice it into the top light wiring so I'm thinking: what if I have any glitch with any of the electrics anywhere on the car? Will MINIUSA use the mod as an excuse to deny coverage?
Has anyone done this mod or another brake light mod and had warranty denial/problems with the dealers? I'd like to keep that dump truck (or anything else ) outta my boot if possible so what do you think?

Depending on the dealer, the only way it would effect the warranty would be if the LED went out. Otherwise, they should cover anything else. To be honest, it shouldn't affect any other electrics in the car. I just did a pre-'05 backup light conversion on my '05 Cooper S because I put aftermarket tail lights in that didn't incorporate the reverse light. I haven't had any problems with the electrics in my car. Also, I have plenty of friends who have done the pulsating brake light mod to their cars that aren't MINIs, and none have any problems at all.

I'm not worried about the Pulsar kit causing problems. I don't expect it would. The question is, if an unrelated electrics problem crops up, will MINIUSA use the mod as an excuse to avoid responsibility for that problem?

There have been reported issues of BMW balking at BC1 replacement due to the '02-'04 foglight/brakelight diode, but that actually places more load on one circuit, while a flasher should not add any load.
Personally, I'm of the mind that if they don't notice a vehicle, with three red lights coming on in the back of it, flashing isn't going to be the silver bullet that gets their attention.

Yes, they could say it caused it, but they'd have to prove it. I'd go ahead and do it. But like Eric said, if they can't see three lights....................

The pulsar does not draw any additional load. Actually, if you try to use the pulsar on a non-led it will not work, it is designed for LEDs only. As far as the blinking not being a silver bullet, no it is not, but from a motorcycle background if you look at motorcycle safety, motorcycle rides are taught to tap the brake 3-4 times prior to braking to let the drivers behind know you are going to slowing or stopping.

Also,a few years ago I bought a blinker module, it was big and made alot of noise and they blinked between 6 to 12 times. I was never able to find one that I liked, so my partner and I came up with this idea. I have discussed with the SA at my dealership and he did not see any issue. The installation is easy to reverse, the wire that is cut can be easily replaced.
