Good evening,

I've had my 2006 MCS for 2.5 months now. Overall extremely happy with it. I have an appointment this Wednesday to have some warranty issues looked at, and had a quick pair of questions for y'all.

1. Has anyone experienced a loud rattle in the left door near the tweeter-speaker & door-handle, just aft of the left-most a/c vent? Mine comes & goes. Sounds like a pebble bouncing around inside a vibrating soda can. If you found what it was, please let me know so I can give the MINI mechanics clues.

2. The rigid MINI logo in the middle of my steering wheel is popped out on one side and now has a crease in it. From looking at threads, it appears this may mean an airbag replacement. Does anyone know if MINI can order an airbag/horn control with NO LOGO in the middle? Otherwise I fear I'll be in there every 2 months for the next 3 years getting new airbags because of poor logo design. I would love a flexible-surface horn-control with nothing breakable stuck in the middle of it.

Regarding number 2, yes the logo design on the horn sucks big time. I have never seen any car where the logo loses adhesion so easily and so frequently. My wife's '05 had the unit replaced once because the right side of the emblem had bent up and it is now doing the same thing again. She doesn't hit the horn in the center so that isn't the issue. I don't know if you can get the assembly without the emblem but sure would go that route if possible.

 

Was listening to the rattle today and banging on things and noticed where it's really coming from. When I stick my finger into the tiny air vent for the left-window defroster,the rattle stops. So the duct is installed funny or there's a screw or something in there.

Will ask about the blank horn surface tomorrow,and let everyone know.
