Found this pic that shows the front end differences in the '01 MC and the '07 MC...

That doesn't look right...the 01 appears to have been shot at a higher view...or the new nose is REEEEEELY high

The R50 is at a higher angle. You can see this by looking at the seats.

An interesting note...based on the tech sheets, R50 is 1408mm high. R56 is 1407mm high. There's no info I can find on ground clearance although MINI2 states that R56 is as low as legally possible.

I wish I could...I'm still trying to figure out if a pedestrian would be better off being hit by an R53 or an R56 at 30 mph.

Common sense tells me that the pedestrian would be more likely to notice the fine form of the R53 and stop short of stepping in front of it all the while gazing in wonderment at the beauty of the form and function that Frank Stephenson created, while the R56 goes unnoticed and BAM, call 911!

I keeeeeeed!

This may sound stupid but....I have always felt that my Mini looks like it is smiling at me. Now whenever I look at pics of the new Mini, it looks like it is sneering or frowning. Something about the new front end...the new Mini just doesn't look happy

I swear I remember seeing a pic from the Paris Autoshow of the "current" MINI facing an R56. They were pointed nose to nose and they looked extremely similar. The current MINI didn't look that much lower--at least not as much as in the comparison pic posted by mini mine.

I looked but could find that pic. Does anyone have a copy they could post?

Interesting perspective on the two. It does look like everything is higher up on the 07 but that could be part picture and then part the change in the bonnet and headlights design too

If BMW would ship me an R56 for free, I'd be glad to take some pictures. I have a good camera.

Ya i noticed the height thing too, but I think it's just an angle issue... It was in some article I stumbled across (dont' remember the link), so I presume it is somewhat official, lol!

Love the picture but the different perspective made it not quite right. I put this one together:

My thought exactly! The bumper height should not have changed that much.
