245/45R16 z212's?

So, I already know that the 225/50R15 Hankook z212's are about the same width (or slightly narrower) than 205/50R15 Falken RT-615's... Seems odd I know, but there's plenty of photo evidence out on the SCCA forums and lots of people wondering how Hankook is measuring... And, I know the 215/45R16 RT-615's are wider than the Hankook 225/45R16's. I'm not sure how Hankook's measuring their tires, but uh, either Falkens are wide or Hankooks are narrow...

Has anyone seen the 245/45R16 z212's? Seems like it might be a good size if the trend holds, maybe wider than a 215/45R16 Azenis, but nowhere near as wide as a true 245?

I'm pretty sure you're not going to fit a 245/45R16 z212 on a MINI without spacers or wheels with strange offset. 215/45R16 fits nicely on 7.5" wide Kosei K1 (the old style).

Even if the 245's are more like 225's or 235's?

Hankook's sizing is odd... e.g. the 225/50R15 is the same width as an Azenis in 205/50R15... someone's cheating (Falken) or someone's measuring's off (Hankook).

Anyway, I am gonna measure the 215/45R16 Azenis at the next AX... and then get Discount to bring in a 245/45R16 z212 and compare... my guess is the 'Kook will only be slightly wider...

if I had to guess, I'd say that the Falkens are cheating, they are, afterall, the ultimate cheater tire. . .

hehehe, just kidding, I really don't want to start that argument here, but I think the Falkens run REALLY wide, cuz from what I hear, the Hankooks run wide as well, guess they just aren't as HUGE as the Falkens. . .

Nobody's cheating like Yokohama on the ADVAN Neova AD07... those are wiiiiiide.

Seriously - comparing a Falken to the Hankook is quite amazing. A stack of 4 225/50R15 'Kooks is slightly less tall than a stack of 205/50R15 Azenis - and, compared side-by-side, the Falken looks noticeably wider...

Funny thing is, on the SCCAForums, people say the 'Kooks run narrow (since they're probably used to seeing the width of the Falkens... )

well, I don't know about the Falkens as much (no firsthand experience), but I've got 215/45-17 BFG G-force sports on 17x7 wheels and my buddy has 225/45-17 Hankooks (RS2 z212's) on his 17x7 wheels and his look a little more than 10 mm wider to me, maybe thats just the BFG's running narrow though, I dunno.

Scott - I'll have new Azenis 215/45R16s on my car at the next AX if you want to measure them.
