White Rims

I am ordering my mini soon, and I am getting the 16" 5-star wheels. Is the white durable or will it get scratched easily, and which looks better in your opinion

if you have a white top. i vote you go with white rims. my wheels are grey and my top/stripes/mirror caps are white...the rims stand out, and not in a good way

do you like cleaning your wheels on a daily basis?
are you a glutton for punishment?
do you own stock in a wheel wax wheel cleaner manufacturer?

if you can say "yes" to all of the above then by all means get the white wheels.

if not you might want to consider something different.

I've had my MC for over three years now. I have the 5-star white wheels and I love them. My MINI does attract a lot of attention as it's CR/W with white wheels. If you want to blend in maybe you should get something else.

I do clean them often, but I enjoy cleaning them so that's not a problem.

After trying several products I have found one that actually helps keep the brake dust from accumulating, at least as quickly, and it makes the dust very easy to remove. It's called, "NO MORE DUST" wheel cleaner. I got mine at Advance Auto.

If you like the looks of the white wheels, by all means get them.

I would go with the white. They are both just as durable. I got the silver V-spokes and regrat not getting the white ones so I ended up getting white aftermarket wheels.

White is durable and it looks great! Peek into my gallery! White gets dirty easily, so keeping them looking good requires cleaning. It's kinda like owning a black car if that makes any sense.

I am getting black with a white top so, if I get the white wheels you're telling me it is going to impossible to keep clean

Requires frequent cleaning... Also, if you keep them clean, they are easier to clean. Don't let the brake dust and crud stay on there for long periods of time.

We have the white 16-inch web spokes on our new MCS. I LOVE white wheels but they are hard to keep clean (do a search). But it's not too difficult as long as you:

1) Wax them with some good synthetic wax (Zaino, Meguires NXT, etc...)

2) Wash the brake dust off, ONLY when the wells car cool. Not right after you've been driving the car.

You can always replace the brake pads with something the creates less dust.

Nothing like clean white wheels in my opinion.

You mean they make rims other than white?

I clean my rims 1-2xs per week. If you use a rim cleaner like resmini suggested it is easy to get the dust off. Just don't use it on hot rims...you might bake the brake dust on. Since I routinely handwash the MINI every week, this really isn't a big deal.

I like the look so much I painted my stock rims (which I use in the winter with snows) white as well!

It's all about what you llike, and making your MINI yours!

I love the White Rims, its just I scares me about having to wash them all the time, I am a College student and I play football so time is very valuable to me, and I dont think washing my rims will be a prority over doing Homework, but I think I could live with them being dirty during the Season, and I think I could handle washing them one the weekends in season

If you're already getting a black car, its going to require extra maintenance to keep it looking nice anyway. Compared to keeping a black car, keeping white rims looking nice is going to be a piece of cake.

I have 16" white rims on my Cooper. Yes, the brake dust from the OEM pads is a PIA, but, since going to the EBC Green Stuff pads, it isn't nearly as bad and it was a cheap fix. And, when dust IS present, it doesn't seem as hard to clean off. So, I'd say to get the white rims. As far as durability goes, where you drive it will also determine how much they scratch. Gravel roads aren't good, nor is parallel parking along curbs.

I'd for sure go with the white rims and ham on rye. Rodan has 17" white rims and they look great with the white top and mirrors. Also, if you are not going to the track too often, the after-market offers wheel inserts that you install behind the wheel which keep most of the dust on the inside and off of the spokes. Pretty easy and cheap mod. Enjoy!
