First sign of trouble - anyone else here?

I purchased my LY '06 in May. Buzzb and I just returned from our first significant road trip - very impressed with his comfortable ride. Buzz now has about 4K under his belt and required his first refill of windshield washer fluid. Filled the reservior up - about three days later the little yellow indicator light on the windshield wiper stick started blinking again. Now I know Buzz did not go through so much fluid that quickly - also, when I squeeze the wand to apply wiper fluid to front window, the fluid doesn't come out as strong as it used to.

Anyone else had this problem occur yet? It's annoying, but I don't think the mini should be going thru two gallons of windshield wiper fluid in 10 days, - don't see any leaks anywhere when I look under him.

Time for him to go visit the dealer?

Got Xenon's? Maybe they have a different container set just for them.

Did you fill BOTH reserviors??? There is a tank for the front as well as the rear wiper.

Not on my car. My car with xenons has 2 tanks. One on each side. I believe the rear washer uses the same tank as the front washers..

You are correct. Maybe the pump is shot? A hole in a hose?

Try this. Have someone stand at the front right wheel while you shoot the squirters. I bet that whomever is standing there gets wet feet. <G>

I have seen this twice. A hose that is not easily seen from the top is disconnected at the tank. Talks about 10 minutes for the dealer to fix it.

That's my bet. And it is a good one.

I have the same problem. The plastic cap on the tank pops open and everytime I stop the fluid runs out. Look at the plastic wheelwell and see if you see the dried fluid spots. I used rubber bands to keep it closed and my problem went away. I,m going in for my first 10,000 mile check on my 2005 Mcs with this being my only problem. P.S. Do you think they will blame my 17% Pulley, Milteck exhaust or Helix CAI for the problem

No..they can't associate your engine and exhaust mods to your fluid tank issues. There have been known issues of the plastic fluid containers, cracks and loose tops.

I had a blinky light for soooo long but the fluid kept comming out when I tried so I didn't worry about it much, then I decided it was time to give ronald what he was asking for and filled it up. Well, they were both full to to brim after maybe like a half liter of it. Which makes sence because I almost never use my sprayers, I much rather washing it off at a gas station. Whazzz up with that?

Thanks all for the suggestions - will give them all a try and see which one is the culprit. One that I can rule out is the two tank theory. Opened the bonnet up last night and Buzz only has 1 tank for wash fluid - he doesn't have the snazzy xenon's or the headlight washers, he's just your regular old BuzzB. We do have a mini-road trip coming up this weekend, guess I'll just keep a bottle of "squirt" in the back in case he runs dry and the bug vs. windshield ratio becomes too great!.

Again, thanks for all of the helpful suggestions - as you can see, I'm still in "neutral" so I'm new to the world of mini's but they are certainly growing on me, even with all the little quirks!

Remember you should go in for oil service at 12 months (oil degrades over time and keeps warranty valid) even if you don't make it to 10k, that would be a good time to mention this if you're oil service is near due, then mention it. sounds lieka leak to me, notice any puddles around the garage?
