Uneven brake wear

I just changed my front brake pads and noticed that I have uneven wear, not on the same wheel as in inner and outer but uneven as in the driver's side was worn down to 1/16" and the passenger side still had 3/8". Is this normal? I have been searching the posts, but I cannot find anyone with the same situation. The inner and outer pads on the front driver's side definitely needed changing, but the front passenger side could have gone longer. Do I have a bad caliper? Another item worth noting is that the car has a slight pull to the left (driver's side). At first I thought I needed an alignment, but now I am not sure.

If the caliper is bad, I have 50K miles on my '02 MCS, so should I consider upgrading the brakes (pads, rotors and calipers)? I just did the pulley, exhaust, unichip and cold air intake, so money is a little low. How much does it cost, any suggestions?
