Feeler - Seat Down Boot Cover

GOMINIGO is working on a new item and would like to know what exisiting CABRIO owners think as this is a Cabrio mod only (at least for now)

I went to ABFM in Portland last week and with my rear seats down I did not like the look of the backseat.

This is what I was looking at.

So we decided to make the following;

It attaches with velcro and must be removed when the seats are up. ( Can not get to the unlock lever).

This cover can be made with a choice of edge color and would sell for $19.99.

Thoughts?????

I have been bothered by a similar view. I think that's a great idea. I would certainly be willing to spring for it.

I think the only time that my seats would be down would be if I needed the extra boot space, i.e. something that extends into the seating area, so I can't imagine any need for covering the space up.

Great idea and this is something I think I would purchase. I had the rear seat down to provid extra protection when carrying things and to make it convenient to toss things in and out behind the front seat.

However, one of the things that stopped me from keeping the rear seat down was that it defeated the effectiveness of my $400 wind screen since it left a gap between the now exposed front edge of the rear tray and the wind screen. This allowed for more swirling of the wind.

Therefore, for aerodynamic comfort, I keep the seat back up and I am more careful what cargo I put on the rear seat. I recommend you add a lip or bolster or an integrated carrier for this boot cover to fill the air gap between the front edge of the rear tray and back of the wind screen.

Thanks for offering your product up for comment.

I'll second this feature! Without taking the windscreen into account this cover is a no go for me. Also you might want to think of a velcro flap to access the release levers for the back seats that would allow this cover to remain in place. Just a thought.

If those aspects can be met then sign me up for one that has the blue leather that is evidently no longer available.

I AGREE TOO. And not to hijack, but no more blue leather with brown/red stiching?

Since I do not have the wind screen and don't have the $400 to spend on one, I like this just as-is, but I'm all for anything that adds in a storage compartment - God knows Minis can use ANY extra storage or organization devices.

Thanks!

This is a good recommendation. However to add a a gap cover to this curtian would not be as effective and harder to install. We are now working on a second cover that will fill the gap. I need to build and test one to see it holds up while driving and that it does not come off while driving. I will post some more photos over the weekend.

I already thought of this but the addition of flaps drives the production costs up greatly. We decidied that in order to keep the cost down to not put the flaps in. Just to let you know what it take, you have to cut each hole and then sew the edge of each opening, cut flaps, sew the edge of the flaps, add velcro to the curtian and flap and then attach the flap to the curtian. This adds 14 steps to the production process, which will require more time and materials. All this will drive the price up.

I understand production cost and that some people do not have a wind screen, market share, etc.

Why not make your product 2 piece? Some type of extension of the boot cover or extension of the windscreen would be nice. Then if you take off the wind screen, for example, to let your dog sit in the back cargo bed, you can still have the boot covered. The goal is to make it look nice and easy to use.

Does anyone have any ideas how to do this? I think the level of the horizontal part of the wind screen is in the same plane as the level of the hard formed boot cover. It would be nice for it to fold in half like the windscreen, to make storage easier.

This is what I am working on. Covering the backside of the windscreen to the shelf.
