H-Sport Front and Rear Sway Bars ... >>

Question ...

Has anyone done the front and rear?

I have read reviews on just the rear sway but not the complete set.

Any reviews welcome.

I have done the Comp set and love it. I can't tell you the effect from going to stock->rear->front since I did it all at once. Get them from ebay for $280-300 shipped. Can't find that deal anywhere else. Doing the front was an experience but now I can probably swap one out in about 3 hours.:impatient

i always wonder will the front one really help the car add some feel and grip.... ive ran the car on full stiff in the rear and it can be hairy on the street

I run both on full stiff an I have understeer like mad. BUT, most of it can be attributed to my worn out tires. I have gotten used to it...but when my busted @#$ endlink get's replaced...I will be evening things up.

I run front and rear... front on soft and rear on the middle...... with PSS9s.... there is nice thread going on track suspension..... my car leans towrd understeer which i like for the street.... when the Mini "comes around" it is not pretty.... very abrupt... it is very short coupled and the ne time it happened that I did not expect.... it was a big surprise......and not a good one..... I added the front bar to minimize roll...... with H sport springs and koni yellows I have no roll but with the PSS9s I did ..... onasled turned me on to "Hypercoil" should i decide to change spring rate.... there are some good books on the subject but what it comes down to is "track vs street" in the last year I have come to appreciate that 'not so subtle' difference.

If you don't mind the ride.. Koni yelows and H sports IMO make the front bar uneccessary....... I went to the PSS9s because I wanted a nicer ride and I got it.......

I run both, mostly for autcrossing. I've been trying to correct a pretty severe snap oversteering problem. Sad to say, but I'm about a hair away from going back to the stock rear bar to try to soften it even more.

....then don't you think you had better do some adjusting, or changes? Why are you running that front bar on full stiff? This is just not a safe setup for the street at all.

(Oppps, sorry, I wrote this without comprehending that you seem to say that you will fix it. )

I'll almost bet that the issue is not the bar, but rather your front struts are played out.

the front bar while effective against roll can add to the oversteer problem by causing the front wheels to lift...... if you are driving into that condition the front bar can be a problem..... I am more disconcerted by the roll.... a stiffer spring rate solves the problem but the ride sucks.....travel of 1 in. is not comfortable...... cars set up to track or street are easy compared to trying to find the "compromise"...... whatever you do you have to give up something.....

I wish. My Koni's are about a year and a half old, and this problem precedes them. It really started after I went to 225-15 r-comps. The problem isn't evident at all on the street, and is just noticable on the track (even though I did spin and go off on #6 at BeaveRun ). It's in auto-x with all the rapid transitions that I get the "snap". I had a co-driver this past week who's an awesome driver. He spun at the end of a long slalom that he was just clobbering. My Mini is very stable until that split second it just isn't anymore.

FWIW I've gone over the setup with Sam Strano who's an Evolution school instructor, national Solo champ and owns www.stranoparts.com . Going back to stock is his suggestion.

Bob, I know you have virtually everything, but do you have front camber plates? I realize that your sig doesn't list everything...

EDIT/ADD - After looking again at your sig, it appears that you might have the Webb plates, which I have also. They have been great for me, minus the lessened travel...

Well, the understeer was VERY apparent with stock ride height. BUT, as soon as I threw the PSS9's on...it has seemed to equalize somewhat. I can't test it out because of the busted ALTA endlink (which I think I will be left holding the bag on) and I am figuring out what vendor to go with. We will see......

Just call Alta direct. They might very well be able to ease the pain.
In another thread I think I brought up the fact that hiem joint end links on the fron of the Mini are just not a great thing. Meb enlighten me to some new thinking on this.
Where did the link break? At the hiem?

I saw that the link was bent down towards the hiem right before it starts to have threads. As soon as I put my coilovers on (the next morning backing out of the drive) it snapped. PS...They were all set to the correct length as prescribed by Alta. The only discrepancy that I had was that I had to replace the front hiems with the rear (and so forth) because the front pressed bolts would not protrude through the H-Sport bar.
