In the shop for the second time...

Had to take Violet the MINI in today. Twice had the same problem. When putting the top in "sunroof" mode it only goes back on the passengers side. The drivers side stays, and it makes a horrid sound.

Anyone else have this problem? Starting to think I may have to get rid of this car once the warrenty runs out. Which makes me sad.

If you are thinking about getting rid of your cabrio, you would have a better chance of selling it before the warranty expires. If you are looking for a perfect ride, try a bicycle.

Never never had this problem nor have I heard about it.

Hope they fix it this time around and that this doesn't make you give up on your MINI.

Sunroof Issue

The good news is it soulds like an easy problem to see and know when fixed properly. I have had my mini 18 months and have had no problems. Keep the faith and let the service people solve it.

Good Luck - Fred

No problems with the roof on our 2 mo old (3k miles) MCSC. Once of our club members had some issues with his roof wear on an 05 MCSC... But no other cabrios in our group has had any problems.

As stated above, let the service dept handle the issue. It may be a new problem to MINI. Please let us know the results.

It was quite some time ago, but I remember seeing this problem mentioned on www.MINI2.com. You might want to go there and do a search in their forum to see what you can find out.

Sounds like a broken joint or motor.

Hi,

Been lurking for a couple weeks so I'll also post a welcome message. This happened the day after we bought my wife's Mini only the sides were switched. They needed to replace the sunroof mechanism and a seal. While it was in they also replaced the rear window trim that was loose and some other trim trim on the sunroof part of the top. Took 3 days from them to fix everything. Now I need to keep my eyes on the wear marks which are pretty bad above the back edge of the passenger door. So we have owned the car for 2 weeks and it had already spent 4 days in the shop. Hopefully things get better because we really like the car.

PS it is a Hot Orange with blue top. Orange & Blue Interior, Chrome line exterior.
