Oops, don't lock the doors with dog in car

Gizmo the adventure-terrier and I were doing our Sunday-morning thing, an hour of reading at the local Flying Star coffee shop followed by a trip to the off-leash dog park. This was our second time there in the Mini.

So before leaving, it was time to visit the bathroom upstairs. I put Gizmo in the car, locked it (yes, ideal temp & shade conditions for storing dog in car), and wandered up to the head. When I came out, I thought maybe the building's fire alarm was going off. A loud, wavering, whistle noise was permeating the restaurant

Oops! I ran down the stairs pulling out the key/fob to silence the alarm. Poor Gizmo had to listen to that awful whistle. I guess he must of touched a switch or the airbag weight sensor felt someone in the car, and the alarm system felt provoked. So now I know to leave the car unlocked.

Yes, there is a motion sensor in your MINI! It's very sensitive, too, so Gizmo doesn't stand a chance being locked in your MINI w/ the alarm activated. Heck, neither would I!!!

I found this problemm too. After perusing the alarm system user manual. I found that in order to turn off the motion sensor AND the tilt sensor, just press the lock button again. In order to verify it worked, just look at the blinking red light after you lock it the first time. When you lock it the second time with the button, the red light should go solid for a couple seconds and then go blinking agian. =) My dog's ears are happier now.

Oops, I forgot all about the motion sensor. My old Ford Escape just sat there waiting for someone to open the door from the inside.

Agree, great picture of the Black Lab alarm system.

Well, Ruby may work just fine where you live, but in our high crime neighborhood, we require at least 2 Saint Bernards to do the same job . .

Yup, your dogs will be very happy back there. Remember that the MINI uses top secret alien technology to make the interior larger than the exterior. It is amazing what can fit inside a MINI!

That's 300 pounds of Saint Bernards back there! They do great and even have room to stand up and shift around when they want!

I haven't had a reason to put all three saints back there, but I know they'd fit even if they had to be a little cozy. . .

They kicked your dog out of starbucks? Had he finished his latte? Seriously, that's not nice to interfere with a girl, her dog, coffee and conversation!! I used to take Samson to the coffee bean every day I had off. That way he could fill his human affection quota! Now that our lab has finally stopped howling when we leave him for a few minutes. He can go too!
