There isn't one. The spot that would have housed the spare tire is occupied by the battery. That's why Cooper S come standard with run flat tires.

BTW, did you purchase your Cooper S new or used? I'm assuming used, otherwise your MA would have told you this.

when I dumped my run flats, I bought a donut spare, jack and lug wrench .I keep them all in the back seat floor area and just pretend I have a GP model with no back seats at all.I bought a spare tire bag from Robyn AKA "jerseygirl" our resident bag lady.

Yeah, I was about to say... base Coopers have the spare tyre. They are under the car near the rear...

Mines in the drivers seat

So much for added preformance form weight savings.

MCS=No Spare
MC= Spare

I thought it was funny that my S comes with a jack and no spare but I do love my run flats.

MC holies - 12lbs
MC eight spoke 15lbs
MCS Xlites - 17.6lbs
MCS Slites - 25! lbs
Spare - 12.7lbs

With a minimum of 5.6lbs/wheel delta (assuming holies), it's STILL a weight savings!!
Even the eight spoke vs. Xlite is probably a wash, given the weight of the runflats. And the spare is sprung weight.

Yeah, in the UK, you don't get the spare with the Cooper. I think that it is a law in the US that if you don't provide a spare with a new vehicle, it must have runflats. And as was posted above, the MCS's battery is in the spot where the Cooper's little donut spare goes. But don't quote me about the US law...LOL! Anyone else have the definitive answer?

There is no law in the US stating that if a car cannot carry a spare, then it must have run flat tyres. There are more than a few cars being sold in the US that do not have spares and are rolling along on concentional tyres.

As for the Mini's with spares in Europe. Only a very basic Mini would have a spare. The European optional packages called Salt, Pepper and Chili pack (sort of equvalent to our NA Premium and Sport Packages) delete the spare because of a tyre and wheel upgrade.

If you need to repair or replace a tire, you need to get your car off the ground...right?

Uh hem.....in the old days you only did not get a spare with your MCS but no jack as well. FWIW, I like my RFs.

You put the comment in the wrong context
Mines in the drivers seat,
So much for added preformance form weight savings.
Then mentioned who had spares later on, the weight comment was about the spare tire in the drivers seat.

I love run flats...and yes, you can get them fix eventhough the dealership will tell you that they can't fix run flats and you have to replace them...go to discount tire and they'll fix them most of the time for free...
Right when I got my mini, I have no idea how but I got 3 nails on my tires...they're all fixed. Thankfully because each one runs about $800

the set does at least.

I bought 15x7 Konig Rewinds (bright silver), and a set of 4 tires Falken 512 M+S tires. The tires, when they go bad, cost just slightly more in total than replacing ONE runflat! $278 stuck on and balanced for all four from OPAK on Long island.

The jack: Is it a good jack, or a crappy jack? I know a nice hydraulic is best but, has anyone used it and liked it? Vast majority of jacks I have used on my cars were horrendous and dangerous.
