I just purchased a new 06MCS last week. I have the Premium, Sport Package and 17inch run flats. I noticed the other day when I was backing out and applying my brakes I hear a popping noise. Sometimes it will make the noise when going forward as well. I only hear the noise when I'm going around 5mph or slower and applying the brakes. I called the service dept and the guy said the pads were probably moving a little and this was normal for the Mini. I'm knowledgeable about cars and I would think this is not normal....

Any opinions would be appreciated.

Anytime a mechanic diagnoses a critical safety system over the phone and says it is "probably normal" without looking at it personally, it is a good time to seek out a better mechanic.

That is like calling a doctor after finding a suspicious lump and having the doctor say "It's probably not cancer, don't bother making an appointment to get it checked out"

 

Hey Yucca, I totally agree with you... I see your from Bham. I from Alabama as well. I worked downtown for Regions Bank before I move to DC..

Anyway have you heard of any issues like that with the brakes??
