Question from new mini owner

I recently bought a used mini and was wondering when I'll need to replace my brakes. I'm currently at 32,000 miles. From what I've read the brakes are expensive and would like to have them done while still under warranty. Also, any other replacements/repairs that might be needed at my mileage? The dealer didn't give me a record of the car's maintenance, I'm sure I could get one. Also wondering if I need to transfer the warranty or if the dealer did that for me. Any help you can offer a new owner is greatly appreciated!! I LOVE my mini!!

I bought a used mini with 41K miles. My breaks were squeeking but they still had decent stopping power. I took it in to get the squeek checked out and thinking they just needed cleaning but I had to get new rotors and pads. 32K miles is low but if you had a previous owner like my car then you should get them checked too.

Dont know about the warranty, what yr is your car?

My girl is a 2004. What did the pads and rotors cost? The brakes seem fine, no noises but I just want to save money and have everything possible done under warranty!

For the brakes, mine were done at 32K and should have been replaced. I stretched them to 36K, but that was really too long. It really depends on the car and how the previous owner drove it.

Brakes are cheap! Getting them installed at the dealer, however, isn't. You can get OEM pads from just about every vendor here on NAM for a song and replacing them is a snap! Well, ok, the fronts are a snap, the rears require a tool (or a buddy to provide that third hand).

I went with OEM stuff. ~$200 for rotors and ~$120 for pads. I think the stock brakes are more than adequate for every day driving.
