R50/53 What didnt my MA tell me?
Did he tell you they had a document processing fee &/or a dealer prep fee? These are 2 fees that you can get out of at some dealerships but you must pay at other dealerships (they can add up to $300 doc fee & $500 prep fee
). You should def be armed w/this info before you go to pick up your Mini so you can negotiate.
(there are already many threads relating to these fees so no need for rehashing them in here

Did he tell you that he's suffering a bad rash on the back of his thigh and has been on antibiotics for the past week? (You didn't shake his hand, did you?)
Also, he should have told you that you can change your specs up until the production date. The production date is something you should receive, so that if you need to change something on you order, you'd know the cut-off date.
Congrats!

Did he tell you that the install fees for most of the dealer options are RIP OFFS! Mine wanted $150 for a 30 minute job (according to MINI specifications) of installing the iPod link... and I thought their published rates of $105 / hour were outrageous... they wanted $300 / hour instead.
I did the install myself in an hour.

Be glad that your MA didn't say:
"Let me introduce you to everyone in the service department, you're going to get to know them very well. .. "

That's ok. My husband had to listen to me say "zoomzoom" at least once every hour (on average) until I received mine. Tell your wives they'll have just as much fun in it as you... heck, just give them the link to the chat pages and see what happens... or the catalogs for all those nifty accessories... we women love to shop...

Interestingly, she has been the one to point out other MINIs on the road in the past couple of weeks.

I went through Titan mania with my husband and commiserated with a co-worker about our husbands' insanity with online chat pages, meet ups, and mods on the Titan... then I had to eat my words when I finally got my MINI. Now our friends shake their heads at both of us because they don't understand. Your wife may or may not understand after she gets behind the wheel of your MINI...
So, back on subject... things your dealer doesn't tell you about... hmmm... the NAM network ROCKS... look for local MINI clubs as well... all your friends and maybe even your spouse will think you are nuts and won't understand.

He/she probably didn't mention that you should look over the finish of every bit and piece of the car before you pull it out of the showroom. Tell 'em "Just leave me here for 30 minutes or so, so I can give everything the once-over" and then itemize any flaw, ding, swirl or scratch that needs to be repaired.
If you go to miniusa & download the instruction manual, it has a list of the programmable options. Hec I told my MA to program things he didn't even know you could program
It is very wise to have this programming done before delivery because if you don't most dealers will charge you (at a ridiculous rate) to program anything after you take delivery

Plus here are 2 good links for you regarding the programmable options. Some options may be a bit different now but for the most part I think they are still the same:

To me like the def one you would want to deactivate is the autolocking after 2 minutes. That is a keys locked in car disaster waiting to happen
