New 15 x 8 wheel
New 15 x 8 wheel
This is from the Miata.net forum. One of the members is coming out with a new 15 x 8 wheel. Very strong and only weighs 12.8 pounds. 40mm offset. 4 x 100 pattern. Not sure if this wheel will fit under a Mini's fenders without rubbing.

According to M7 tuning +38 to +40mm is the sweet spot. The trick is the tire you use and how much it's lowered. I did intend the for the (my) Miata first but the design parameters are shared with a lot of other cars inlcuding a 1" lower Mini with 225/45/15's and Wilwoods.
I think a lot of Mini owners try to run the 225/50/15 because up until recently that was the only size you could get in the fastest auto-x tire and also to retain stock gearing. Not including the ultra fast wearing Hoosier, Hankook now offers their STS2 style RS2 and will have the ultra fast (Kumho 710 challenger) Z214 C50 & C70 compunds. Toyo also has the workhorse RA-1 for the trackdays. The Miata guys are lucky in that we can just squeeze the very rare 245/40/15 Avon CR500 under there. That would require so compromises on a Mini me thinks.
With the RS2, you have a legitmate street tire. Kinda short but you can really lower the car.
I will consider a run of +20 offset for those that want to run flares or 225/50's but that is contingent on how many folks ante up.

The +40mm offset will be a problem for 15x8" rims according to some checking 949racing and M7 did and posted about.
949racing first came out with their 15x8 rim in +40 offset and there was rubbing on the MINI. So they changed the offset to +36mm to get some clearance front and rear and that is what is recommended for the MINI. Miatas can use the +40mm offset.

Thanks, Minihune, you are a great resource. I didn't see the thread you referred me to.
I guess I will wait to see how the test fit with the Willwood 11.75 brakes go. I hope Emilio reports back soon!

I have on order the 15x8 wheels (+36mm offset) and am waiting for confirmation about needing any spacers for my lowered MINI (Bilstein PSS9 coilovers). I might need 5mm spacers front and or back.

I'm ready to order if they do
I think they were checking with Todd at TCE brakes but they were waiting for the first examples of the 15x8 rims with +36mm offset right around the last week of Dec.
