I failed....miserably.

I tried to do a pulley install on my 2005 MCS AUTO. I got as far as lifing up the engine. I just couldn't get it up far enough.

I guess I'll have to leave it to the experts.

FYI, I did get it all put back together.

I would wonder what was holding it?I did my install, took it for a ride and ate a belt due to me not putting the pulley on the shaft far enough. I raised the engine back up and put it on the right way.I didnt find it difficult at all. I just didnt put the inner hub on far enough.
Only thing I can think of you not being able to get it up far enough, taking into consideration that you did get it to move,is maybe the ground strap on the passenger side, right off of the engine mount I think is where I remember it being.
To bad you didnt get it on,its totally an awsome mod!

What kind of puller did you want to use?
The "delux puller" only requires that you lift the engine so the press part of the tool will clear the chassis. It also saves quite a bit of time, no need to remove the tensioner.

I took my pully to a speed shop and they had one hell of a job to get the engine up high enough. They also had a hard time removing the old pressed on pully. The charged me 2hrs labor. ($150) I figured it was worth it.

Many people have done their own pulleys however I believe for most this is a job best left to someone that has experience and a well equiped garage. The 1-2 hour of labor expense is well worth it in my opinion.

I had the deluxe puller. I also had the tensioner tool. I guess I'll just leave it to the pros.

I have heard that a pulley job for an automatic is a real bear to do. That's why Waylen is gonna do mine, since he has done a lot of each.

I agree with Bahamabart........unless you know have the skills let the pros handle it. Plus if anything goes wrong they are responsible.
