New Mini Cooper S Owner !!!
New Mini Cooper S Owner !!!
Hi all,
On Monday i signed my papers for my Mini Cooper S. I am soo excited because its my first new car that i am getting on my own. I been wanting this ever since High school.
My dealer told me that I have to wait for it because he didn't have any in stock so he had given me a production number. He told me the expected arrival is in abuot 5 weeks (late august). Well I wanted to know if you guys think that I am gooing to get it in that time frame. Currently I am checking the status of the Mini Cooper S and its on order. How long would it take ?
BTW ,
I got the Premium Package, Sports Package, and center Arm Rest.
However, I did not get the Cold weather package because my payment was increasing so i had to look at my pockets.
Royal Grey Color w/ Silver Roof and Side mirrors.
I got the stick but my friend also just ordered one last week and hes getting automatic, do you guys think that there is a big difference between auto and stick?
What do you guys thin k?

Hi,
welcome to the website. I am a 1 month old owner myself. Its the first NEW car ive ever owned so I can relate to what you are going through.
One thing i did was play with the build a car feature on Miniusa.com until i started to build the same car time after time. that's how i sorted out what features i really needed versus wanted. The only feature i am not thrilled about after recieving the car was the armrest. I guess i am used to shifting and driving and do very little leaning. I drive the same way in my m3 so i wondered why I didnt think of this when i ordered my MCS.
anyhow, I test drove the Auto and the 6 speed extensively before placing my order. My MA was extremely accomodating and excellent to work with.
The auto really excels when youre driving in the city with stop and go traffic and traversing over imperfect roads. Infact, you can divert most of your attention to pothold dodging rather than which gear youre actually in.
I believe the 6 speed is brilliant on open near perfect roads with long stretches (which is what i have in my car. I often wish i had an auto as driving in traffic really kills the motoring experience, particularly when darting through traffic against equally agressive yellow taxi cabs). To really give the horses a run for the money. apart from that, you may want to consider the wheel and particular sizes. My mini came with 17" s-lites but i am actively looking for 16's. You can find more input on the NAM regarding this but i wanted to give you a heads up on this.
apart from that, i woudl recommend the anthracite headliner.
makes the car look that much more finished with the royal grey.
Best of luck to you...

Hello!
Congrats on your new car and welcome to NAM.
Manual all the way!!! I want to be able to "drive" the car, not let the car drive me. But hey, thats just how i feel. I think you will enjoy the manual alot, good choice!
Oh, and about the 16' wheels, thats why i didnt pick any packages and i kept the 16's. I picked out my options individually. It was rather funny, my sales man saw my print out and tried to offer me the sport package, thinking i didnt know better. But i quickly told him "no thanks" when he got to the LSD option, he responded "heeeey....i know what you're doing"
hahaha

Once you used a stick for awhile, it's instinctual. You practically never think about it, and you know what gear your in just by the speed you're going, and the engine sound. Takes practice, but the only way to go.
At first I was going to Lease the Mini with 15K per year. However, I drive a lot and i dont want to put any limmitation on my self. Lease was for 400 a month with 1693 down.
however, i spoke with the dealer and he told me about Mini Select program. Were i own the car... I thru down 1600 and my payment came down too 380 for 3 years.
I also got a really good discoun on the car... I was getting $700 off the sticker price.... any one have any deals similar to mine?

Congrat and Welcome. Got my 2006 MCSc in Feb. of this year and still got that grin on my face. I got the stick because it was the right thing for me and that's the only reason you need. There is no right or wrong.
I also purchased my MINI on Monday but was given an October delivery date. I get my production number this upcoming Monday. I live in Colorado but I don't think it will take over a month to traverse the country.
Five or six weeks should be about right if your production order is listed at miniusa.com. Join the owners lounge and track your car.
Congrats on the stick! You'll have more fun driving with a stick. You control more acceleration and all. Learn the tach!
