Target Smart Car Drivers needed for Chicago event

The Target Smart Car Tour is excited to make an appearance in Chicago during the Air and Water Show! Four of the exclusive Bullseye ForTwo vehicles will be proudly supporting the Target brand by motoring throughout the city.

We’re looking for drivers that are interested in helping to support the Target brand during the events on Saturday August 19 and Sunday August 20.

Ideal candidates possess an enthusiastic attitude and have small vehicle driving experience. The crew will be responsible for motoring the Target Smart Cars as a 4 unit fleet, creating a moving billboard promoting the Target Corporation.

Limited positions are available for this opportunity with exact times & locations to be determined. Each date of participation will consist of six hours with payment at $25 per hour. To be considered for the Chicago crew, please email lwalters@legacymp.com ASAP. We will get in touch with you promptly & provide an application for employment.

Please pass along this opportunity to other qualified individuals that may also be interested. Thanks to all who apply!!!

I was wondering if any Chicago MINIs were going to get involved in this...

I took the drug test this morning for it (great way to start my birthday.. isn't it )

Hopefully I'll get selected for this

I got the call !!!

Hey guys !!! I got the call from the Target Smart Car guys!!!! I'm so geeked

I get to drive both days (8/19 & 8/20). About 6 hours each day. I'm waiting for the driver info and more details. Too bad you guys didn't get selected It would've been cool to cruise with people I know.

As soon as I know the route, I'll let you guys know. In the meantime, I'll see you guys sunday for the BSSP Run

Update...

For those interested...

It looks like we'll be cruising the lake front region for most of the day. We'll be anywhere where these's going to be lots of foot-traffic (Navy Pier, Lincoln Park Zoo, etc).

I won't know the actual route until I show up tomorrow morning for the pre-drive meeting. At that point, I can try to call someone (probably the wife) to post the anticipated route destinations and times.

This should be a hoot Will take pics and post afterwards

Minimac,

Please do as we're heading down to watch the show. I'd love to get your impression of the smart car and how it drives in the city.

Sorry, no specified route was given for the Smart Car except that they'll be somewhere on the northshore, so be on the look out for them!!!

Thanks TargetSmart!!!!

So the weather was PERFECT this weekend to do a little cruising around the heart of Chicago in a Smart Car decked out in the well known Target bulls-eye in various patterns.

While I'm prepping the car for the first day and chatting with Gina (one of the other drivers), to my suprise, the other two drivers are MINI owners too Gary and Cathy whom I've cruised with on other CMMC runs. Talk about a small world You know it's gonna be a good time when you have other MINI drivers around

We didn't have a route planned. What we did was was hit as many hotspots as law would allow. We hit the Grant Park area, Oldtown, Lincoln Park, Wrigleyville, Water Tower area, Michicagn Ave, Navy Pier, the Planetarium, Buckingham Fountain and cruised along LSD. We honked and waved at everyone along the way and stopped several times to let people climb in and check out the Smart Car.

To all of the Chicagoland MINI drivers who spotted us over the weekend, thanks for the wave!!!

check out my Target Smart Car pics here !

Glad you had a good time. I did it in Boston for the July 4th weekend, and those canvas coveralls get hot!

It definitely stands out in a crowd. Keep in mind (Target), we were told very little about the Smart Car because we were promoting Target, not the car. But it was fun to drive (Target) once you got used to it. You needed to punch the gas if you wanted to over-take anything and since the transmission was both auto and manual (w/o clutch), you always had to be aware (Target) of your controls once you hopped back in since so many people tried it on for size.

Its a lot roomier than expected. I don't remember (Target) anyone complain it was too small once they sat inside. I think it would be a great commuter car... just another choice for the market in 2008.
