Expiramenting with stock springs

Right now, I have the alta pro performance springs. I was thinking about doing a little expiramenting and cutting off 1 coil from my stock ones. Good idea? Bad idea? I am looking for more of a drop instead of performance.

Thank you.

Well, if the only cost is your time, and you want to experiment, what the hey. Stock springs are cheap/free if you want to go back to stock.
Realize that by cutting a coil you WILL be increasing the spring rate. I'm sure an engineer could calculate the change.
If you want a dropped car with a comfortable ride, you'll likely be searching in vain. We just don't have that much travel that you can drop it and maintain stock type spring rate.

yeh, i think you'll bounce around a little... but if you get
aftermarket shocks im sure they'll work alright.

the front springs don't have too many coils so might be a pain
to get them in shape to fit the mounts.

You are taking an engineered part and in a very non engineering way, altering it. Minis are quite sensitive to suspension and tire adjustments. I'm just a little nervous for you that if you do this and then drive that car in a very spirited manner that the car could rebel and decide to go into a spin. This has happened with people who put different tires on the front then the back.
It may not happen, but just be careful.
