Taking Care of your Bonnet and Boot Stripes

I just had my PW Cooper S re-striped. The original stripes were looking bad. Some shrinkage, loss of shine, dis-colored glue on the edges, and even a couple of tears. Thankfully, I was able to get the stripes replaced under warranty.

My question is: Is there a way to prevent the degradation or pro-long the look of your stripes? My car is not garage kept, so I don't know if that is an issue. Is re-striping something that will be need to be done every year or so?

Hm... The only thing that I can recommend is a carcover. The sun can be your cars worst enemy.

My stripes had light brown water spots on them from day 1.

Mine is garage kept, so I dont know what its from.

How did you get the stripes replaced under warranty?

When I described the problem to my service guy he asked me if I got the car at that particular dealership and if they had installed them. The answer was "yes" to both questions. I was pleasantly surprised, to say the least.

Peel the factory ones off and throw them away. Have a good vinyl guy replicate them in a quality material.

Actually, before I took delivery of the car I saw another PW with Viper stripes and I asked the dealership to switch to those stripes instead of the factory stripes.

Either way, the factory stripes are just a low quality/grade vinyl(?)

I noticed when waxing my car that the stripes are not as shiny as the rest of my car. Good toknow that they just peel right off if I ever need to replace them (although if they get crappy looking while I'm under warranty I'm having THEM do the work).
